Raiders Fan Day

Just back from the Raiders Fan Day. Well done to the club, all seemed to go off very well. Only slight downside was that they didn't introduce the First Grade Squad and present their 2004 jerseys to the players until about a quarter to 4 and after the 2 junior games, and by that time, most people had gone home.....

Simon Woolford predicted a Grand Final appearance this season. And after all the effort our No 1 ticketholder went to to get rid of the black... the Raiderettes have brought it back this year!!!

It was good that there were 2 junior Raiders games..... Parramatta towelled up the Raiders in Harold Matthews 40something to 6... while the SG Ball team repeated their Grand Final winning performance from last year by beating Parramatta again... and fought off a second half comeback from the Eels. The SG Ball team looks formidable, but the Matthews Cup team seemed tiny in comparison to their Parramatta opponents.... a lot of work to do there.

The only downside to having the Eels teams there was having to sit with Eels supporters on our fan day!!!!!

In any event, congratulations to the club!!!

It was a good day...bit drawn out. Surely they could have had the presentation between the games, but anyhoo.

On a day that was supposed to be cloudy I end up sun burnt.

I spoke with one of the membership people, and they say they have been overrun by memberships this year. They are doing 40 for Woodgers and his mates in the eastern stand on monday apparently, and those who have bought memberships in the past few weeks should receive the gear in next week sometime.

I sat in the rickety old grandstand under one of the oak trees but I probably still got a bit burnt!

I haven't been to actually watch football at Rugby League Park Braddon before.. had a good atmosphere and surroundings for a 'suburban' ground.

A recent report said that our memberships have already doubled last year's numbers. However, I wonder what that actually means in numbers? The Brumbies claimed they have 9000 season ticketholders this year...

Sounds like a good day. I dont think they bring most of the riverina kids in untill SG Ball, so I wouldnt worry about the harrold matthews result.

Good to hear memberships are up as well. Hopefully we can get 5 or 6 20k crowds this year, which would compare favourably with the brumbies.

ah the old stands. Spent most of the day in them. Moving after a certain time due to the uncomfortable factor, but they sure brought back the memories of yesteryear.

I did ask if many people are joining, and was just replied with lots more than last year, and they were extremely busy with memberships, and there was a few big group bookings.

Off you go... you have the entree into Raiders management.......

I did find it surprising... they are all in black and white and their pom poms are black and white, with some green in it.....

I was going to go but being new to Canberra I had positively NFI where the ground was.

I spent an hour trying to find it on a road map before giving up.
