Adamson to return for Raiders

Canberra Raiders second-rower Matt Adamson will return from injury against the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday, as the Raiders prepare to lock horns with a former teammate.
Adamson moves straight back into the starting team after missing four matches with a rib cartilage injury.

One opponent who will be sure to give those ribs a full fitness test on Saturday will be former Raiders premiership player, Ruben Wiki.

Having played 225 first grade games with the Green Machine, Wiki made a tough decision to leave the Raiders and join the Warriors this season. Raiders coach Matt Elliott played down the impending clash with the Kiwi Test skipper.

“We’re not going to talk too much about Ruben,” Elliott said. “I know Ruben’s got a close relationship with all of us here, but we’ll reminisce about friendships after the game. We’ve got to make sure we maintain our focus.”

The Raiders have won three of their last four matches and are gaining momentum at the right time of year. The Raiders played some of their best footy of the season in last Sunday’s 26-18 win over the second-placed Parramatta Eels.

“We’re building a bit of momentum, but the other promising thing is that we’re starting to get regain our best available squad,” Elliott said.

“Matty Adamson is back this week, Andrew Lomu’s return is imminent and Marshall Chalk looks like he might make his return from a fractured jaw in Premier League this week.

“That starts to create some internal competition for positions, like we had at the beginning of the year. And when you have that, guys tend to play their best footy.

“There was no hesitation putting [Adamson] straight back in there. I think we’ve missed his impact on the game. He certainly adds a dimension to our play.”

Suddenly things are looking alot better :). I think we should beat the Warriors, they lack the mental strength to string wins together.

Best team in ages. I would have Chalky in 18 instead of Robbo (who will play if Elliot stays true to form with his team selections) as I think he would add a little more impact, but still it's a great looking lineup!

I think we will run with 4 forwards on the bench against the warriors, i think Elliott will want a big bench to combat the warriors big men. My tip is tyran to drop off for Williams. Team looks really solid, great to have Adamson back.

Very good looking team, how good is it to see some faith in the kid wearing the 7?

That said, he will need some protection from psycho's like Betham et al... I'd also pick Williams for some intimidation. Adamson and Tyran need big games as well, all our big units need to play hard this week.

Good to see chalk back to. I have no probs with him playing PL this week. Warriors would really test that jaw out.

Frawley and Howell need to work on their hand skills. I would have Chalk in my team ahead of both. I would also have Kahler ahead of T Smith. He adds NOTHING to our team.

Good to see Gafa not named nowhere near the top 17. Robbo should also play in reggies.

True, Kahler adds worse handling, slow play the balls, flimsy defense and gets dominated more often than Madonna in her heyday

Kahler is woeful. Tyran was used in teh last 20 minutes against Parra to great effect. He never gets put on his back like Kahler and his handling is about on par. Therefore IMO, Tyran is a much better option than Kahler.

How come Gafa is fullback ahead of Bronx in PL? Has this always been the way? Also I thought Alley-Tovio was out for the season, is this his first game or anything?
