remember when TLL was reported as having a 240k a year deal
little did they report he'd only collect that if he played a certain amount of fg games, and played rep footy. Canberra have a long illustrious history of doing deals like this, whats to say shillo isnt on these?
not me, i havent seen his contract, nor have any of you and dare i say nor has zorba, haddley, wilson, weilder etc

as for petro i dont know what penrith are paying him and i doubt anyone by petro and the panthers do either, including the gutter journos... my skeptism extendeds to all media talk about contracts, they are almost NEVER correct, let alone about canberra related matter... tc a done deal at penrith, then manly... ring any bells Limey, seriously mate how many times will let these mobs bite you before you consider they talk out their arse

best WILL not be re-signed but will be resigned.

that is all.

keep up the good work Timbo.:)

Read my original post you idiot.

I said if we cut Best loose AND RE-SIGN KELLY then it's a concern.

Who would you rather have on the wing? Best or Kelly?

But they're not always wrong. That's my point. Toddy has said he very nearly did sign with Manly!

I like to keep an open mind. I enjoy speculating. Can't help myself!

speculating is completely different to taking these sh*t talkers word as gospel
ill speculate as much as the next man, the key is to accept its purely speculation and not parade it around as if its a statement of fact.

I don't think I do that.

I sure as hell don't take them as gospel. But I believe where there is smoke, there is often fire. More often than not anyway.

Logically, before hearing this report, I had supposed we'd offered Shillington very big dollars. Why would you think anything else R69? I agree that there could be some incentive based payments involved. But Shillington is a different prospect to TLL. Much more proven. His base won't be a low one IMO, and that's fair enough.

I actually approve of management taking the risk. But it is a risk.

My first instinct as well. Its quite infrequent that a promising young players sign a 4 year deal based on current worth. A 4 year deal suggests that management will by paying him the first year or two what he could potentially be worth- and hopefully make a saving once potential is reached.

It doesn't matter either way really. I hold higher hopes for flano but think shillington will be proven to be a smart signing in the coming years.

Firstly - Shillington is an OK signing. If he's on anywhere near the same amount as Petero I will be devastated but it won't be for the first time. We can only go on reported figures, and Smith at the very least was offered 200K which is about 250K more than he's worth. How about Campese being offered 200K and REJECTING IT? I don't know who are the bigger iddiots.. Management for offering another inflated salary or Campo/Banaghan for rejecting his only offer.

We have paid a big amount for these fringe first graders. If you don't think so, you are more blind than the people who didn't know of Neil Henry's get out clause.

There is no doubt that management have to take a risk or two in an attempt to change the preceived culture.

I very much doubt that the figure of $350K mentioned by Peter Peters this morning on 2KY is true ... I would suspect it would be closer to the high $200K's (and I would be satisfied with that) ... but if we've paid the reported $240K to N.Smith I would be extremely disappointed.

As I've said before we've got to structure our cap with 5 marquee players taking an average of $325K ... they are the players that win you the tight ones ... they are the players that others will take a bit less to play with ... they are the players that give the club C&R and possibly a premiership.
