carney is quite simply not a halfback.
the more he tries to play like a halfback the more i see him as a 5/8.
blood herbert into 7 and stick carney at 6....this is the reason why we arnt scoring points.
campese off the bench as a utility.

but who knows if the carney/campese combo fires, than the next 2 years might be fantastic.

I'm not discounting the 40/20 Bay, but barring that, he was awful last night.

Every time he had the ball, he thought he was the only one capable of scoring the try, and showed some very poor decision making.

Dobson was not the antichrist last season, despite what some people on here say. He kicked a few 40/20s as well. But that's besides the point, when TC was out, Dobson and Campese complemented each other. It was, for mine, our best halves combo for quite some time. And Carney is, in my opinion, playing well below standard at the moment.

The problem for me with that is Campese is playing too well to do that too.

Campese's best position is 5/8, and he's outplaying Carney in all aspects. He's been our best playmaker this season.

Yet there are a few people who think the solution to Carney's poor form is to axe Campese for Herbert and shift Carney into 5/8?

How about axe Carney for Herbert or Dobson...Campese's done absolutely nothing to warrant being dropped, he's playing great footy at the moment and if anyone's to go, it should be Carney.

Three games in and it doesn't look like working so pointless really blowing our good start by being beligerent and not fixing something because we dont want to make a change.

Carney needs to learn the 7 but I prefer him at 6 with either Zillman or Herbert at 7

Zillman's out for the season - he isn't an option. If Herbert is ready to go, give him a shot. But Carney is costing him his jersey. As long as Carney wants to play 7 with visions of Origin, Campo/Carney is the best halves combination we have. I'm with you on that fact it's no long term solution.

Two words - Alan Tongue. I see zero value shifting our most consistent player to accomadate a bit player.

Sadly like Chalk Campo can play many positions, just none terribly well.

I was merely stating Campo's best position. I think your assessment of him as a bit player is a tad harsh. He's good value, particularly with the new interchange and the rate at which we are sustaining injuries.

If we want to retain blokes like Carney, Goodwin and Zillman long term we simply need to draw up our best 17 and the guys who are on reasonable bucks not listed need to go and I have a feeling Campo and Chalk may fall in that criterea.
I'm with you on Carney and Zillman. Goodwin is a decent fullback, but I don't see him as vital to the future of the franchise. Nor are Campo and Chalk. As far as I'm concerned, we carry far too much dead weight and unfulfilled promises – but I’d much rather carry Campo than Withers.

I like Justin Carney in the centres ... socred another two tries last night to add to his two last week ... he looks mean, plays mean, doesnt go down too easily when tackled ... I understand he is also a pretty good all round sportsman ... this guy imo has a future at the Raiders and we might even see him in FG if we lose a few more to the medical staff.
J. Carney looks the goods. I'd throw him in next week ahead of Milne or Kelly. He just has NRL player written all over him. He's bloody well proportioned too.

Well duh - prior to his injury I was not Mr R.Crusoe in wanting Zilly in the halves

I think its accurate - isn't democracy great :D

I would rather carry the illegitimate offspring of Gata and Drew
Campo has utility appeal but I am sure if we had not have had 3 injury riddled seasons he would be elsewhere.

Dont know if I'd throw him in next week but he's scored a double in every game this season to lead the try scorers ... def will be pushing for a FG start some time this season if he continues with those stats ... sometimes you just get the feel for a player and J.Carney def feels like he'll go the extra step ... btw this is only his third year playing footy.

some people around here carry on like dobson single-handedly cost us the premiership last season. I mean it was his rookie year, give the guy a break. f**king hell i would hate to be a player for this club....

tend to agree re Dobbo guys ... yea OK he made a mistake or two but imo he is a better half than Campo ... it's a matter of whether he is a better half than Herbert ... I havent seen a lot of Herbert lately so that is a question I cant answer.

I don't have the same opinion about this bloke. He has a certain physical presence in an under 20's comp but he would get run over in the NRL. Happy to be proven wrong but I doubt it. Whatever happended to Juniour Sau?????

Read a review of Qld Cup which indicates TLL got through the game OK but only played 25 mins as requested by Neil Henry. Probably another week or two before he will be considered.

Junior Sau went to the Knights. I think he's playing reserve grade at the moment.

May not have that luxury if this attrition rate keeps up...
