Raiders Vs Eels

The ball handling is always the same culprits. Withers is by far the worst and is good for 3-4 drops per game, Thompson is 2-3, Tilse is 1-2, Weyman is 1-2 and Tongue is fast catching up.

The amount of dropped ball this year has been atrocious and it's the experienced players who are letting the team down.

we're going to really need to defend well. if we don't wrap the ball up in the tackles and get numbers in to slow the play of the ball right down we are going to get shamed against the brand of footy the eels are playing at the moment.

I know it's off topic, but did anyone see Tonguy on NRL Footy on Fox last nite? He spoke really well (I have'nt seen in him in many interviews as I'm in Sydney)

He spoke about sticking in Canberra when he could have gone elseware, about the harmony in the team (despite the Carney drama) doing extra work in training and getting a trade (something hopefully Carney is being advised to do) and insisted the team was commited to sticking together.

Plus, unlike many NRL captains, he can actually string his words together. Not that there was any doubt, but he is another great leader of the team.

He seem like a real nice guy who's grateful just to be playing in first grade. Love the tongue.

i couldn't beleive that ball withers dropped off a TLL offload last week, it was straight into his chest and he would have scored for all money.

Costigan has by far the worst hands at the club. Whats worse is they only ever seem to manifest themselves when he's just made an awesome bust.

As an opposition supporter (who will incidentally be down in Canberra for this match), I caught that interview last night and was very impressed in the way Tongue carried himself...he seems like a very likeable down to earth bloke who bleeds green for your club.

I only really know him as a tackling machine and haven't really followed his career that much but I will do from now on. Daley also made special mention that he went on and finished his trade rather than to devote it all to footy and crack the top 25 when he was younger. He would be a great influence on the younger blokes you have there.

I did crack up when they said the blokes that have the big white letters that spell "TONGUE" changed it around to "GONE" when they saw Nathan Brown walking to the tunnel after the Dragons game

As Parra Pete said, it is a danger game for us against your mob and one that ew need to bring our best to have any chance. Looking forward to it and good luck for the rest of the season.

Cheers

Just on Withers, he baffles me and has always ben an enigma for the Raiders.

I think he sometimes places a higher importance on looking good than getting the job done.

There was a game this year, I think it was the Panthers and Withers was trying to scoop a ball over the touchline in a diving motion to stop the other team from scoring and made a meal of it and the other team did score. He should have just grounded the ball and the end result was a line drop out but he was trying to be fancy and it cost us points.

Whilst he does a lot of good things, for a senior player, he has far too many errors in his game at the moment end needs to take it one play at a time and forget the showboating.

Also-Colin Best returns this week in PL.

A half decent game will probably have him back in firsts with our injury problems.

Yeah Neil Henry has basically confirmed on ABC radio that Best will start at centre and Plum off the bench.

Im concerned about Best , but I also realise we dont have any other options, Plum on the bench isnt a bad option if its going to be a wet weather game ( its raining in Sydney not sure whats its doing in Canberra)
