Rally/Demonstration?

I am aware that some people will be arranging a rally at Parramatta Stadium prior to the home game against Manly.

Did anybody watch the 5 o'clock news on Ten? If so, there was a brief bit where Hindy said:

"A lot has been said regarding coaches and players ... If you can do any better, I'd like to see you try," referring to critics;

"We are doing our best";

"It's a player (confidence) issue";

"We were booed off our own home ground."

If you watched him, you could see how badly it hurted him to say these words.

Now I know that some of you really do not think Brian is the answer right now (and who knows who really is?).

But I would like to make one plea.

For the players' sake -

PLEASE reconsider the rally. Having an anti-Smith demonstration now (even though the club's best interests are at heart) could be atrocious.

The players have all come out and said BS is doing EVERYTHING he can to turn it around; it's a player issue.

So I would like to reinforce it again - PLEASE do not rally against the team YET. The players and coaching staff are yearning for our support, and it is really getting to the blokes.

I do not want Smith as coach but I also strongly believe that both booing the players and holding anti smith rallys are not only inappropriate but also do far more harm than good.

Things need to be fixed but not by either of those ways IMO, leave them to do their job and either way, win or lose, the result itself will force the change at years end.

I agree mate.

As disappointed I am with the team lately, I would NEVER boo the team.

In fact, how's this for a "Parramatta comradery" story?

At full time against the Dragons, I stood up on my chair and began clapping and shouting, "BAd luck boys. We'll do better next week. Heads up." etc, and a Parra fan came up to me and laid the abuse into me for being a [and I quote], "Blind, pssionless d***head."

And I was really affected by Hindy's words and his facial expression.

I have never believed sacking a coach mid-season is the anser, but now I am even more convinced.

I agree with you. Way I see it I win either way, if he proves me wrong and delivers a big turnaround I will be very happy, if he doesn't he will be gone at year end and I will be happy.

I agree wholeheartedly.

That is why I am 50-50 on whether or not Smith is the man.

We all know what he can do; and he even changed us around last year to the point where even after butchering our first 15 rounds and losing key players, we nearly made the finals.

I'll stick by Smith. I think he can change it.

And if he can't, well ...

To be honest I haven't believed that since 2001 as I have stated elsewhere but nonetheless I will be delighted to be proven wrong and in that respect while he is still there he has the right to try and prove me wrong.

Booing the players and public rallys does no one any good, I would have thought a better way to protest would be simply not attending rather than publicly humiliating your own club.

Its pretty simple with this rally thing - would you rather go watch the lower grades run around or stand around and whinge about a coach.

Not too hard of a choice i think - I'd personally rather watch the boys run around in reggies and flegg than attend some bullshit rally.

I'd rather wtach every grade play, even First, and not put more undue pressure on the players or coach.

It is becoming quit apparent that some issues are causing more harm than good, and everyone is starting to feel it.

So how much longer do we put up with this cra? Some of you honestly seem happy that we are running poorly!

Smith and the players have has 2.5 years to sort it out. They haven't. How much longer must our club suffer because of their egos?

Did Ron Hilditch get 2.5 years?

Did John Peard?

Jack Gibson did - and won 3 premierships!

Brian SMith? Well, since when has he been above Parra?

For those of you happy with losing 5 straight and missing finals again, sit in the stands and do nothing. For those who want to see a better Parramatta, you know what to do!

Will we see you down here for the Manly game then Misty? I'll even save you a free ticket.

So.....if somebody doesnt think that a match day rally is the right thing to do, are you saying they are happy with how we are going?

I think this rally thing is a bit over the top, I know how desperate we fans are about getting a new coach. But havent we protested enough, booing in the Dragons game was enough for the players to realise they are an embarressment. I believe Smith is losing it and Fitzgerald cant admit that, but Fitzy cant hide it forever, even though he is a d*khead. If you dont like the way Parramatta are playing then dont turn up at all if you're gonna boo. Thats a better way for them to realise its embarressing.

Give Brian Smith the backline Jack Gibson inherited and I believe he'd have 3 premierships already.

As an aside.....I always hear how we had the side to win the comp in the '97 ARL and then again in 98. But really, didnt we have an ordinary backline back then, guys.....I mean, Nathan Barnes!

No Fish, but why criticise someone for doing something about it? If you don't want to go to the rally, fine. But saying it won't help or it is wrong is another thing. Clearly the agitation in the fan base is making things happen. The club is now in a big rearguard action. Players are reacting, the coach is reacting and the CEO and board members are reacting.

Colonel, if I can get there, I will.

Yes I do, I will do what I am entitled to do under a democratic system, exercise my voting rights as a financial club member. Question is what specifically are you going to do?

Duh! Support the protest, and not the failed coach!!!!! Got a problem with that? Obviously you have, considering that you would prefer fans to stay at home, rather than agitate for a better club!!!!!

No one is going to boo the players. I think you have some major confucion happening there.

BTW, I'm not questioning your right to sit on your quiot and do nothing. But I do take indignancy at people who bag people trying to do somehing positive. None of you have the right to tell other fans what to do.

People can rally if they choose to, thats fine. My view is that, on a match day, its not the best thing to do, but if others think its the way to go, fine, they can rally....I'll be inside watching the footy.

No, I don't have a problem with it at all. I was just curious as to what you were proposing to do yourself.

And no need to be so condecending in your reply either Misty, it wasn't that long ago it was you defending Smith against me in the old MSN forums. So do yourself a favour and get off your high horse.
