Definitely Ayoub driven

The story is delivered in a way that makes the club look bad e.g. "told to leave immediately" is overly dramatic

I can't imagine the salary cap is still an issue. Look at how the events with Sirro/ET played out. As soon as Sirro was released ET's signing was announced. To sign ET and stay under the cap we released Sirro. One out, one in.

On a separate but related matter, based on the training video I've watched I think there are question marks over Ballin playing at all this season. He's struggling to run.

If we could get him medically retired that would ease up some further funds under the cap. He's 33 and coming off 2 knee recos - have to be realistic about his potential upside

Normally I would say that this is just another bit of rubbish, but the story broke Friday night and the club has remained silent. Usually Pascoe is quick as a flash to defend the club against false accusations. So maybe there is some truth, but the bottom line Lovett has a contract and is within his rights to dig his heels in and the club can not make him leave. Okay they can tell him he will probably not play in the top grade and he will not get a new contract in 2018 but they can not push him out the door if he doesn't want to go.

Waiting until Monday I'd imagine.

Ballin looks like he's going alright. I'll be finding out next week at the members party day.

Lovetts a good kid who doesn't deserve to b treated so dishonourably by this perpetually moronic & disfunctional club @ head office.I know he is surplus to our needs as a player but I'm sick of the gutless & callous decision making this club continues to make.

If Ballin breaks down early in season again we can kiss this season goodbye. At the moment he is indispensable to us as we can't expect to throw a young kid like Liddle to the wolves so prematurely as he needs to b eased in by coming of bench.
To think we r paying 750k of Farahs salary while playing for souffs damn sticks in ones craw!

If anything I think it will increase the chances. I don't think you can bribe a 22 year old with loyalty, it will be more if they think they are going to be apart of something special.

The whispers were very loud that Moses was the main driving force behind the Farah shaft. He wanted to be the main man and couldn't do that with Farah there.
Do you think Moses would have that sort of clout with the club?
Taylor wanted RF gone, for what ever reason (it can't have been salary cap, surely) and the club backed him. But it has cost them dearly, in dollars and probably another season out of the top 8.

Agree with the $$ though it's not like the great one carried us to a pleathora of finals appreances anyway...

3 final series in 17 seasons chaps don't forget, so it's not like it's a new concern...

Sadly true that we have only had 3 final series in 17 year however I put this down to who we have had as coaches. Sheens at his best was good but gee we have had some duds. Bellamy I think knocked us back in the early 2000's. If you think what he has done with Melbourne (rorting aside) he could have turned us into a top flight team, it isn't as if we didn't have some good cattle over the past decade or so.

We need a top level coach urgently....Taylor offers nothing other than a head I'd like to fu#king punch.

It's an odd decision if indeed correct. Lovett was one of JT's pet projects, one of the first picked every week. How does he go from that to the flick so quickly?

I get where you're coming from, but you might even argue that the reason the club's cap situation is a mess is because they didn't make enough callous decisions years ago.

It's been the mismanagement of the half back role and Benji Marshall that has destroyed us. All of our best results (our only results, let's be fair) have come when Benji played with a competent halves partner who created space and time for him. If he didn't go down in 2006 we go deep into the finals again. Results in 2010 and 2011, when playing halves with Lui, demonstrate again how potent he was when given space and time.

Tim Sheens is as much to blame as anyone else.

I don't disagree with any of what you say Front-Rower. I am suggesting a good and strong coach would have addressed that issue way before any of our coaches did. Bellamy or Bennett would have found or manufactured the half we were looking for. Coaching in the main has been a big and ongoing problem for us.

In all honesty Sheens did identify the issue hence why he bought Scott Prince to the club. He dropped the ball by trying to a) turn John Morris into the next Cooper Cronk b) turning Marshall into an organizing halfback when a) failed and c) persisting with small forwards (though that's another story).

For as bad as Sheens turned out in the last 4-5 years of his tenure he did do a good job and built good structures in his first 4 years, though that is where it should of ended.

2012 was our year to win the comp. This would have been a platform in which all our future success was built. What went wrong:
- Letting go Fifita and Gibbs to retain Moltzen and sign Blair. If we hadn't done this, we could have used the money to buy a halfback for 2-3 years until Brooks was ready to shift in
- Tedesco getting injured, forcing Moltzen to shift out of halves (wasn't doing that well either way)
- Losing Dwyer permanently

If the above had not we would have been right up there as grand finalist contenders

* Gibbs was injury prone and wasn't Fifita let go as he didn't want to be there?
* Tedesco played roughly 30 mins in game 1, an unknown prospect in firsts at the time
* Agreed 100%

Don't forget, Lui playing up and getting sacked after the 2011 season didn't help either. I still believe 2011 was actually our time to win the competition. After going so far in 2010 (player implodes at crucial moment), 2011 should of been the year. It was just a pitty other certain players imploded against the Warriors in.

Wests Tigers statement

Wests Tigers have today been made aware that a player has been charged by the NSW Police for drug possession.

Kyle Lovett was charged with possession of a small quantity of a prohibited substance on 23 December, 2016 and will face court on 1 February, 2017.

Wests Tigers Club officials were only made aware of the matter by Lovett today.

Upon learning of Lovett’s charge Wests Tigers immediately alerted the NRL Integrity Unity this morning and the two parties are currently working together on the matter.

Wests Tigers are incredibly disappointed with Lovett and do not in any way condone his behaviour.

Wests Tigers ensure that all players and staff receive the highest level of education in relation to drugs. The Club takes the welfare and education of its players and very seriously with the Wests Tigers Wellbeing and Education department ranked second in the NRL in 2016.

Wests Tigers will be making no further comment until the matter is resolved, both with the NSW Police and the NRL Integrity Unit.

I am guessing this will make it easier to move Lovett on. I note with interest he is named in the 9's squad. I doubt that will continue to be the case, not based on what he has done but more him not telling the team management.

Curious that there was the rumour about him being forced out a week ago, you'd think it was linked to this, but the club say they only found out today. There was speculation that rumour came from his manager, so perhaps it was some pre-emptive strategy. Don't ask me what the strategy was, because it doesn't make sense. Not sure if they can sack him over this - don't players get a few chances? We might be stuck with him while he serves a long suspension.

Wests Tigers NRL player Kyle Lovett charged on drug offences

Published: January 21, 2017 - 6:48PM

The NRL future of Wests Tigers forward Kyle Lovett is in limbo after he kept secret from the club drug charges for a month.

The club was on Saturday in damage control after the forward admitted he was due to appear in court early next month.

In a statement, the Tigers said Lovett had been allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of a prohibited substance on December 23 however only made club officials aware of the matter on Saturday.

The 23-year-old will face court on February 1 with the club saying they were "incredibly disappointed with Lovett and do not in any way condone his behaviour".

Lovett is contracted until the end of 2017 however it was rumoured the club were attempting to force him out in a bid to ease salary-cap pressure.

The club were caught off guard by the revelation on Saturday and alerted the NRL integrity unit.

Lovett has not been stood down, with his fate not to be decided until after his court hearing in a week-and-a-half.

"Wests Tigers ensure that all players and staff receive the highest level of education in relation to drugs," the club said.

"The club takes the welfare and education of its players very seriously."

The Leichhardt junior has made 43 appearance for the Tigers since his debut in 2015.

So, if a guy who had just played in the GF was found with the 'stuff' in his system and only got 12 weeks suspension and another guy was caught going into the Star in possession of 'stuff' and got, what was it again?

Won't the mean that the Tigers are stuck with him for only 8 to 10 weeks but get some dollars back in the kitty because they can fine him? Not much money back I know, but they may be stuck with him a lot longer now.
