The unfortunate thing is that football appears to be seperate from any of the workplace legislation in effect. There is example after example of clubs treating players and staff with the utmost disregard for their rights and getting away with it. Criminal acts, bullying, unfair dismissals, pay dilemmas and all kinds of other breaches of the law that apply to us regular folk are regularly and wantonly ignored within the football world.

Look at the Treister case. Classic unfair dismissal, but nothing happened.

And look at the huge amounts of money some of these players earn ... for what trying to get an oval ball over a white line more times than the opposition.

They're big enough and in most cases ugly enough to take a roasting from the coach if they are not putting in.

Yelling is not bullying ... singling someone out and constantly yelling at them is.

Speaking of Treister, does anyone know what he's up to nowadays? Gees, the guy could tackle and put in some huge performances for the Sharkies.

And you're right. He was well and truly shafted by Anderson.

Frenzy.

True words newman but football is only different because no one has ventured into it yet. It might happen. It is happening actually, October, when Opes goes to court.

I would think the junior levels would be a target areas if the legislation ever filters through to sport.

As far as the Industrial Relations Commission, EEO legislation, OHS legislation and the Federal government is concerned football is the same. Every workplace is.

And for the information of the uninformed, Surely, yelling, be it at a group or an individual or even if within earshot of someone who objects, is the No 1 form of bullying recognised by all the above bodies. How much one earns is irrelevant.

In football I can think of many ways legislation could be applied but the can of worms it would open would see the death of the game and I doubt we'd see it in a hurry.

These are not opinions BTW. These are realities that anyone can look up and find in google.

If people think the possibilty of it all is ridiculous then try working in a Zero Tolerance workplace for awhile.

Better tell that to the army then.

Its not the volume of the message its the message.

Are our players such basket cases they can't understand or hear the message or the importance of it.

i've noticed with small kids that you tend to yell when you are repeatedly ignored- you naturally think volume will make you heard and transmit an importance.

of course it doesn't - you have to find a way that gets the message across -EFFECTIVELY( and from some comments it might be a good kick in the arse-toughen up or get out).

I have made no secret on this forum for two years we were taking on an apprentice coach- he has much to learn -still.

How many games will it cost?

He has improved -but....

Sully wants to toughen up his attitude .
My reading is - footy's OK on my terms only-pppppffffttt.

People management is one thing -but rather than attack the messenger(Raper) what the hell is wrong with taking on board the message and doing something about it.

We are playing like CRAP. No fluffy here-no winging about refs or decisions- our attitude HAS changed.

Here's a message- We win when we are disciplined, we win when we are desparate , we win when we do ALL the little things well which ALLOWS us to be craetive at the right time-it gives us CONFIDENCE to do the creative things at the right time.

Offloads down, missed tackles up, kick chase - a jog, penalties up, its attitude.

Maybe we got too far ahead of ourselves- well time to toughen up our attitude and start LISTENING not crying and winging the coach is yelling at me-

NIKE- JUST DO IT.

Oh by the way its nice to be back- we can start winning now.

Apprentice? What about his previous time with the Sharks? Then off to England where he was responsible for a new lease of life at Castleford. Then Wigan made him an offer to good to refuse and he went on to win the Challange cup.
