also:

in the super league war

it was deemed that RL, RU, AFL, CRICKET etc were all in the one market (sports entertainment)

even though you couldnt substitute a cricket player for a league player

and cricket fans wouldnt go straight out and support a league team if cricket went down the girgler

I actually didn't notice this while watching the match, but now that I've flicked through some shots and noticed the blackened markings I'm thoroughly disapointed... In fact I think it's so disgraceful and unprofessional that Philips should be dropped as team sponsor! The request must have come from them, so THEY should be gonesky's!

Philips only asked because they could get away with it. I don't blame them. The administrators and Gilette should've pushed for this.

You may have noticed the Roos covered the Tri-Nations logo on their sleeves with black markings.

My hypothesis is this.

The PHILIPS Kangaroos are sponsored by one of the largest makers of electric razors in the world. They play in a tournament sponsored by the largets maker of manual razors. Did they sponsors pressure the Roos to avoid displaying their rival's logo, after the "embarrassment" Philips had at North Harbour? This is the only logical conclusion I can reach.

Are the Aussies undermining the torunament? Perhaps. Sponsor clashes happen all the time. This is the first time in RL I can remember a "cover up". I am appalled.

How would Gillette feel? Will they say anything? They get less value out of their sponsorship. How bad does it look on TV? The Aussies appear as though they have no respect for the tournament.

Am I overreacting? What do you guys think?

It actually happened only last month when Cowboys played Host to the Bronco's in the NRL VB Final Series where Fourex have sponsorship rights to Dairy Farmers in Townsville therefor only allowing people to get drunk off Fourex, and VB wanted their beer only at the stadium.

I wasnt there, but I heard VB gave up the rights for the good of the game but Im sure they said they were still allowed to have marketing crap around the place.
