Happy with that. Got what we expect from the regulars which was more than enough. I thought the new inclusions all played well, if a bit unpolished at times. I thought Smith in particular played well in the time he had. Falls was good when he got involved and defended well. Pretty impressive to have 4 halves at the club who all put their bodies on the line in defense. We've come a long way since the days of watching Luke Walsh jump out of the way.
Absolutely love the way Kikau's playing. He's terrorising the little guys on both sides on the ball. It's to his credit that he's clearly determined to end his time here on top. He might actually be the piece the Dogs need to get out of their funk next year and I'm very worried that he might be more important to us than many realise.
There were a few comments on here about Burton's kicking on here after last week, which I think would have to be silenced after tonight. His boot was ridiculous. That kick in the first half was disgustingly good. Absolutely uncatchable, wouldn't even mark Edwards down half a point for dropping it. Gave Staines a bath with outstanding vision for two tries and scored a third. He's the only player worth feeding in that mess of a team which makes the fact he's giving them diamonds amongst rocks pretty extraordinary.
For all the talk of the Salmon no try decision, the worst call of the night was the penalty against Falls that lead to their third try. He was very obviously being locked in by the defender. Overall it was another game where we clearly dominated both sides of the ruck yet somehow managed to be repeatedly penalised in the opposition half in questionable, inconsistent ways. It's pretty obvious that someone, somewhere doesn't like the way we chokehold teams out of matches. It doesn't really worry me in games like this, but it better not happen in games that matter.
