Badger going the video ref when Souths would've preferred the quick play-the-ball.

He did the same thing to us earlier this year and we had whoever we were playing in the ropes and the player with the ball just wanted to play it but badger had to f*ck things

Both times the player was trying to play the ball but that tithead Badger went to the video ref anyway.

We also did it with success in the 1980s, with Taylor and Sterling swapping places in defence, Kenny and Ella sometimes also.

It's a strategy as old as the game itself, and really not remarkable - other than to register surprise that in the modern game it seems so unusual, given the slavery to more rigid #structures.

If Sterling and Taylor swapped positions that means they had positions to swap. There's your structure right there.

In pursuit of your truism, you seem to be deliberately skipping over the word 'rigid'?

A "structure" where people swap around is not the same as a rigid structure where this swapping does not occur.

It is if the circumstances under which they swap are rigidly defined. e.g. attack and defence.

Anyway, that's irrelevant. This was an example of three players swapping in attack and defence. It's remarkable regardless of whatever point you think you can score from it.

It's hardly remarkable at all. Halfbacks short of breath have been non-rigidly sliding across to the wing in defence for decades, meaning that two other players also change defensive positions to accommodate, which makes for a remarkable total of three as well.

Hiding the halfback on the wing is the oldest trick in the book. Hiding a weak defending hooker on the edge and a slow edge forward in the middle via a third defender is a pretty new trick. If it wasn't you would have given an example, smartarse.

Cartwright is an awesome attacking player.

My penrith 13+ bet is looking good finally.

He is the best attacking forward I have ever seen. The guys a gem. His only problem is he needs to learn to defend. With him and tribovij NSW will be hard to be in a few years.

The more I see of Moylan I think what a giant pussy. When burgess ran at him the cat put him arm out and didn't try and tackle. He sure can ball play thou.
Cleary is special. Will be one of the better halves in game. Would like to know how Dargan compared to him.Cleary is in a dominant under 20s team and looked good. But also looks good in first grade.

Have you seen Jason Smith? He played for Parra. He defended really well too.

Fittler, Daley, Kenny also played lock.

Sweet. Suck shit Mannering. I'd have sent you to the bin as well.

Well, at least an eight - point try.

You may well have.

I may even have: but Ji other referee in the nrl in the last ten years would have.

Disgraceful decision in light of the last five - ten years.

Ps it certainly couldn't be an 8 point try as that is purely for an act of foul play while the try is being scored.
