The MP take home a pretty substantial amount of cash don't they? It's not just some kind of honorary title.

$100k. While that's certainly a nice little reward from a club perspective i don't think it'd be much motivation if any for the players.

I don't think resting players in rd26 is all that advantageous sometimes.
If anyone can remember melbourne did it in 2011and got pumped by the Roosters - physically and on the score board.
They barely got it over Newcastle a week later and then the Warriors went over them.

Yeah they made up for it in 2012 - but I personally think rd26 was where the wheels fell off for them in 2011.

Roosters should get their rest period out of the way against the titans tomorrow, as no matter what happens now winner of next week gets the minor premiership.

Also, if Roosters lose and Melbourne win this weekend, it would give extra motivation for Roosters to win next week to avoid that third spot.

Biggest regular season game in history.

The only remaining foundation clubs, both 105 years old. Winner gets the minor premiership. Amazing how the stars have aligned.

Hopefully if everything goes the way I hope it goes, as well as this being a minor premiership playoff it will also be a grand final preview.

Hate to burst your bubble there mate but Easts are the only team that has played for 105years, still Souths should be proud of their 103 years...:p

I didn't say Souths have played 1st grade for 105 years or played 105 seasons. I said they are a foundation club that is 105 years old. Very different and 100% true.

Stars aligned = easy marches upfield from 'convenient' soft penalties

35 k tickets gone

Damn I need to get on this

Easts and Souths are the two most penalised teams in the comp. You saying we get marched upfield is just as accurate as me saying Easts have had refs in their pocket all year.

Neither club has had a fair go this year. We've both lost more penalty counts than we have won.

Difference between you and I is I can put aside bias for a moment to see we've both been bent over. You cannot.

Wrong again; Norths, Newtown and Newcastle all foundation clubs and still going strong.. you said "The only remaining foundation clubs, both 105 years old"

Besides Easts none of those others are still independent clubs in 1st grade. This is the NRL board and this thread is about the NRL minor premiership. So bringing up clubs that don't exist in the NRL is a ridiculous point.

What I said still stands. There are two standalone foundation clubs in the NRL and they will play for the minor premiership next week. That is an amazing alignment of the stars and great for the game.
