Mataele didn't overly impress. I know limited time and on debut but not even close to Tuaviti. Hope I'm wrong and he kicks on though.
He had one significant drop ball. One good hit with most meters gain which is good. He’s worth persisting with. What I can’t cope is some one like Penisini who has been in grade and still making rookie errors. He’s done backwards and cannot pass. That pass for the Lomax try was laboured too high. He made an easy situation so so hard. Put penis in in the second row as a hit up donkey

I get Will made few errors, but he was solid defensively. And his attack was elite level for a centre. Thought it was awesome.

14 runs 182 m, 59 PC, 9 TB, 2 TA, 2 LBA, 1 LB. Defence 1 miss.

He aren't getting dropped any time soon with that attack.

Ryley Smith has a calf injury and had it strapped up after he went off.

Sprinted off the field though so it shouldn't be too bad could just be a strain

Kautoga: starting to see what Ryles sees. Learning in first grade is difficult, but he can offload, can hit and isn't slow. Sure he makes errors, but he will get better. I reckon he needs a bit more aggro about him. Hopefully he realises he can be a wrecking ball.

Penisini: can make metres rucking it out, but is a liability in many ways. Needs a spell in Cup to regain form. If he can't improve, keep him out of NRL. Unfortunately he has a PO.

Hopgood: was nowhere near his 2023 level last year prior to his injury, so that isn't the reason for his poor impact in attack. Could it just be he is not the player we thought he was? Might have to be turned into a workhorse. Unfortunately not a hitter in defence. With Walker in the team his value has dropped.

Samrani: does the basics right, which, given how we have played thus season, makes him look good. Doesn't have outside back pace, but reminds me a lot of Ben Smith. If he puts on some size in the off season could turn into a decent edge player. Has versatility and a good bench option.

Where did your hope come from? He ran fairly hard in the trials, but he deadset couldn’t hold the ball. It’s literally the most fundamental skill in the game and he can’t do it. He’ll never be a first grader’s bootlace, and yet we’re persisting with him. I truly don’t get it.
Kautoga had 56 post contact metres ffs. Only Penisini and Lomax had more. And he again was very safe in defence, only missing one tackle from 37 attempts.
