Fullbacks a position you can play a smaller guy in, its been that way forever and it still is, its not feeding him to the lions. We are not pulling him out of sg ball. He played matts, he played sg ball, he played a full year of flegg, he has now played a handfull of cup games, its not an unusual rate of progression for a highly rated junior.

We can definitely play a small fullback if Alamoti and To'o and the wingers.

Our cowardly pissweak forwards are the real issue

Teams are upping the ante now when playing Penrith, everyone lifts against us. Some people on here are turning on guys like Casey and Blaize not being up for first grade, both are Flegg age also.

What? Everyone is saying Talagi and Casey are raw but have huge potential and are worth persisting with.

So you reckon no one said they shouldn’t be in First Grade this year? Both are guns and have both played for their Country, no sense in chopping and changing all the time. In stead we go for a bloke like Milky over Casey in the Centres, he has a crack but no where near the talent of either. Milky even got a crack at Fullback over others.

Interesting to note Jack Cole played 1 in NSW Cup on the weekend.

I think Cole playing 1 was Ivan finally admitting Laurie isn't it

I think Cole’s good enough to get more than 10 minutes week to week as a 14. His last game at 6 in cup was outstanding, he threw a cutout pass that every great half that’s ever played would be jealous for a try assist. Had some good runs and set up tries with his running as well. He can play a bit hooker or lock as well as covering a number of spots. He’s good enough defensively and I think he could add something in that role. I’d be looking to rotate with sommo as well cause he’s stepped up this year I think, defence noticeably better.

Not sure it is a position WE can play someone smaller in. We need bigger bodies and power out of our back three. Injuries to To’o and Edwards have been a big contributor to our lack of effectiveness this em year, which in turn has helped to exacerbate some of the challenges of the forwards.

Laurie is a not a big body. We’re not gaining anything playing him. I’m saying give Edgar a crack backing up Edwards.

Edwards I’m worried about, he’s been shit all year let’s not sugar coat that, drops a low or no pressure bomb every week now plus he drops another one in the play the ball half the games as well. Lucky to be playing origin, he didn’t deserve it on form, I hope it sparks him cause he’s another one not earning his pay packet. Elite fullbacks are not making unforced errors every week. As rep spine player needs to much better we cannot afford to pay him, marto, moses and Tago to perform like they have been. They are on very good money.

None of our senior players have been earning their pay. All have had very good games, but all have been either quiet, injured or poor for lengthy periods this year. Even Yeo looks worse. They're getting older, which doesn't mean you discard them, but it means we have to seriously look at recalibrating the squad. Several have mentioned it, but if Yeo, Cleary, Edwards, To'o etc are going to be the older, more experienced core, then a higher portion of the remainder of the squad should be young and explosive.

It won't feel good at times, but while we've benefited from having a squad filled with guys who peaked at the same time, the downside is that they will decline at the same time. Were getting a very clear warning about that right now and we need to heed it. If that means moving a few guys on early who have served us well in this run to rejuvenate the squad then so be it. We need to strike a balance between maintaining the amazing culture that has brought us so much success and not letting it stagnate by being overly sentimental.
