I doubt it will stay this quick. The NRL has done this before, in 2001, and every merkin (except us obviously) complained it was too fast and too many games were blowouts.

Not really its a defensive tactics alot of teams use the fullback is in the line.

It just goes to show where the game is heading. Playing careers are getting shorter because of the speed of the game. Older merkin players can't keep up, which is a shame - they end up grabbing whatever Aldi deal is on offer in their specials magazine. JNR looks almost done as well. Younger players will ask for more money because their years in the game will increasingly become more limited.

I think at least it’s mostly a specific required action instead of the usual refs interpretation. Of course there’ll be times when they still have to decide if it was two hands or one hand with a waving second, and absolutely there’ll be times when they still get it wrong, but at least it puts some definition to the “I don’t think the attacking player made genuine attempt.”
