How much would it cost to re-string and tune a Ibanez Roadstar SII Electrtic guitar at a music shop or a repairer..??

$16-$20 for the strings and if they are nice people they will do it for you, if not they will charge you extra

those strings will probably rust out in a few months

if you are serious you need to fork out about $50 for decent strings

I have never had a shop do it for free. They ususally charge around $25 for the labour. Depending on the cost of the strings, you are looking at $40 to $45.

If you know anybody that knows how to change strings, learn from them. You will save yourself dollars and won't have to wait for the shop to restring the guitar. I have waited anywhere from 1 to 7 days to get the guitar back from the shop.

Well, tbh, I bought it in the mid 80s brand spanking new, had a few lessons and gave up in disgust..

The teacher wanted Leo Kottke and I wanted Deniz Tek...

I lent it to a mate and it played 1 gig at the Evening Star in the late 80s and has sat in the corner of various abodes since..

However, my daughter has taken a bit of a interest in guitar and I want to get it fixed for her..

its easy enough to restring it yourself, as long as you know how to tune it

you can buy electronic tuners nowdays

I've still got my old Ibanez, better than the mid range rubbish that's around now days

Coasty, if someone here can show you, thrn watch, otherwise go to a musicstore and watch them once.

Make sure you grill them to pieces about stringing it, you're paying for their labour.

Elixirs are the best strings, but if you're only new there is no need for them at this stage.

Ernie Ball's are good enough. Depending on the role of the guitar being mplayed, truss rod adjustment will be another thing in the future.

Is it a floyd rose bridge or just a standard tremelo/tunomatic? It will probably cost a bit more to get restrung if it's a floyd, music shops (at least the ones in NZ) tend to charge a bit for that.

There are plenty of internet guides out there though man, you should be restringing every 2-3 weeks or so, depending on how often you play, so it'd make sense to learn yourself.

As for strings, D'Addario, Ernie ball and GHS are decent and inexpensive in my experience.
