I might go to this. Would love to see grid iron live, and this is a chance to see it without going to America.

I was going to suggest a few from here meet up for something to do. My young fella has finals for summer sport plus two winter sports either trialling or starting first round that weekend I think so I'm not sure I'll make it there though.

But I'll be trying to squeeze it in!

Yeah it's at 5sports centre at Taren Point.

I play soccer there and the guy mentioned it to me on Wednesday, said that if the NSW guys hit as hard as they do in practice it should be a good spectacle.

I believe it's $10 for a seat in the grandstand, or you can just sit in the sports centre and watch it on the TV for free.

Might try to sneak down and see the aussie talent ;)

Went to the game yesterday with a mate, and it was pretty good. I was surprised at how good they are for an amateur level. There were some big hits and big touchdowns.

NSW won 51-22, it was close for most of the game, but NSW ran away with it late in the 4th.

NSW ran an option offense for the most part, really good at the run. I think their running back had 3 TD's. Also the wide receiver for NSW #21 was a beast, making huge plays and scored 2 long range touchdowns, guy was huge too. VIC couldn't match up with him.

VIC's starting QB got hammered in a tackle towards the end of the 2nd quarter and had to leave the game. Their were a few hamstring injuries for the VIC's as well. For VIC, their fullback #45 was great. A power back that made some huge gains. And their WR #36 was good for a short receiver. Heaps fast and scored twice I think on an end around.

Since it was the first time I've watched gridiron in person, it was interesting seeing what was going on on the sidelines, with the changes of personnel and team meetings between offense and defense. Hearing them yell out alerts was good to. Players on the sideline would help out the defense by telling them what was happening, like yelling pass or run when they see what the QB does after the ball is snapped. You also can see other aspects of the play develop since you're not just focused on the person with the ball, like you are when watching TV. Seeing some of the match ups with WR and DB's was interesting.

Overall I had a good time and was a nice way to spend an afternoon for a few hours. Would like to see another one sometime.

I took a few photo's on my phone, they're not the best quality, but it gives you an idea.

NSW beat QLD yesterday 55 to 20 which sets up a match for the National Championship NSW (2-0) vs WA (2-0) on April 14th at 6pm at 5 sports.

WA would feel unlucky not beating NSW in 2010 so will be out for revenge and have also added some of the best players from SA to their roster.
