Reasons Why QLD will lose game 2 2013

1. Poor forwards

The fact that Papali, a below average raiders forward was picked shows how raw the QLD forward ranks are. Shilling ton and Harrison were disposed of without even a second thought, just like Taylor was previously. There is a revolving door around these forwards but none of them have the quality like Bird, Gallen, Lewis, watmough (Choc).

2. Slater

Slater is no longer the best fullback, that belongs to Inglis now. And while slater plays origin he is actually hampering the QLD teams ability to win. Inglis looked lost at centre in game 1 and will be worse in game 2 if he plays at centre. Slater has to go to the bench.

Inglis will be better in game 2 as well. But I do think QLD has picked a weaker side for game 2

I'l bite with a serious response.

Everyone knows NSW want it more, theres nothing the QLD camp can tell us that will have us believe that they are just as hungry as the blues who've suffered 7 years of defeat and humiliation.

Complacency coupled with a complete disregard for origin football is what the maroons gave game 1. The QLD players walked away from the game with an aura of being shocked, almost asking the blues 'Geez, its just an origin game, why so serious'?

Over the last 2 years i think alot of the origin football mentality has been coached out of the team by the staff. it has a real Melbourne Storm feel to it, composed football team with no emotion involved, just the end result in mind. It's worked, but that type of play is vulnerable to what we saw in game 1 from the blues.

I think QLD will win game 2. Theres been alot of disruptions for the blues with players injured and a playing group torn apart through ferguson and tamou.

QLD won't start slow again and i think JT will deliver a clinic in reply to game 1. NSW won't get the leniency they got in Sydney from the ref's and will probably lose the penalty count, their first try came off a knock on that shouldn't have been called and you can sure as hell bet QLD will sack up in defense to stop tries like Jennings'. There's too many quality players in the QLD side to not answer back for the way they played in game 1 & i think they'll answer for it on home soil.

I think the game is becoming faster, more powerful and more dynamic. The QLD team over the last "few years" has some of the greatest footballers I have ever seen but they are at the end of the careers. The next generation hasn't come through which is hardly surprising given their success and loyalty to the guys who gave them that success. But you look at guys like Fifita, Merrin and Woods - QLD doesn't have anything to compete with that up front. Tariq Sims is the next one. Throw in hard nuts like Gallen and Watmough and you have huge metres. It's very hard to contain.

In years gone by the QLDers have always broken even in their pack and let the backs cut them up. Even shit footballers like Bella, Larsen and Moore were able to draw even against far more talented opponents. But they didn't in Game1 , probably won't in Game 2 and almost definitely won't in Game 3. Papaali is a very good selection but they need guys like McGuire and Taumalolo to come good.

Truth is they have slim pickings in the pack. Look at the current QLD team. Packed full of second rowers because they have no dynamic props. A few years ago, NSW had the same problem, thus the selection of Gallen at prop. But the worm has well and truly turned. Stick a Graham or a Burgess in that team, and it's a different story.

All I know is NSW will probably lose the penalty count as M4L said and nothings better than being marched up the field when you lack props..

pretty sure they've both stepped foot in qld which on old eligibility rules makes them queenslanders :p

Mal pretty much said the refs are driving the big men out of origin with the 12m ruck they hold. realistically this isnt good for either team. we want to see the big forwards still come in and collide, not see them all swapped for dynamic backrowers. this goes for NSW as well with the lack of genuine props they've picked

shillo and harro have been carried by the fact they've been part of a winning team. neither offer hell of a lot and their performances in game 1 were abysmal. despite their shit performances, if qld had somehow won game 1 they'd still be there.

i think the qld team in the past has held a "she'll be right" mentality which has got them out of trouble for several decades with the belief they can pull the game out of the fire. this blues team is superior to any we've seen in 7 years, they have a genuine belief and an intensity to win and they're not letting reputations affect their game.

i think qld will take game 2, with nsw to claim the title at homebush

I give NSW a real chance tomorrow night. The two biggest reasons being a) they have a superior forward pack and b) I get the impression they want to win tomorrow night more than Qld do.

The Maroons have been focusing on Gallen and the referees too much. If there was a positive to Fergo getting punted from the Blues, it's that it happened before the team had even gone into camp. So the guys playing tomorrow night have been together since the very start of this Origin preparation period and got accustomed to playing in the adjusted team.

The Maroons have been below-par for a while now, even last years' series they were below their best. I can only see them being a threat if a) they suddenly return to their 2008-2010 form or b) they consistently get possession within 20 metres of their tryline.

Ultimately, I don't think there is too much between the players in both sides form-wise, and you can't underestimate how much NSW would love to wrap the series up tomorrow night. I think that extra level of motivation will get them the win...

form is the word blues fans have loved to use over the years. you always seem to think nrl form for their club should translate into the origin arena. how many rep duds have you had in blues jerseys? when will you understand what wins these games?

My big concern about tomorrow night is Cronk. I don't think he's played for about three weeks, so may be a rusty. All things considered I think Queensland will come back, have a better start courtesy of referees being aware of the tactics of NSW, and Queensland to win by a narrow margin.

Well when you consider how Qld's key players performed in the last Origin match, added to the fact none of them have really shone in the weeks since for their NRL clubs, you'd have to hope that at least a couple of them rediscover their previous level of game tomorrow night...
