Prince was good enough to play in the toughest game of rugby league as a half , yet he isnt a halfback at Wests .lol.

Don't think we'll get a chance to sign Matt Head. He knocked us back last yr to cement a spot at the Dragons.

Timmins played 5/8th in that game but I wouldnt play him there in my side. Same with Minnichello (sic) on the wing. Origin football often requires a player to play ou of position. Prince is a good enough player to play in the number 7 competently however he has always looked better when he is second receiever and has a bit more space to weave his magic

Oy, hands off. You've got one of the best halfbacks in the game and you've already got one St. George halfback on your books (Kerr). As for Sims, not much chance of us giving him up, plus he's a local boy. Have some faith in Sheens for god's sake, he reckons he's got a recruitment plan line up til 2007!

I don`t know what people are watching if they don`t think Scotty Prince adequately handles playing halfback.Like i`ve said time and time again we`re not blessed with many if any quality hole runners(that`s in the first grade squad anyway),however between Prince,Marshall and Hodgson they still create scoring opportunities out of nothing!

St George have given Kite permission to negotiate, I think he'd be great for us.

And Prince has played his best football this year at 1st receiver, nothing wrong with keeping him there for next year as well.

read my post again Vicious. I never said Prince wasnt an adequate half back I merely said he is a mcuh better 5/8th. In fact I even said he was a good enough player to hadnle the position. If Benji keeps playing like he did today than I agree Prince should play half but I would prefer him in the 5/8th in general

An Impact 2nd rower; another quality prop and a centre

1. Pritchard
2). Stringer
3). Mongahan

To be brutally honest the main worry for the tigers next year is the retention of Scandalis and I would be extending/increasing Marshall's salary. A number of clubs (the warriors spring to mind) will be chasing Marshall so why not cut them out of it right from the get-go.

The side is developing into a competitive unit however the last thing the club needs is to go chasing players such is Head (i.e. greedy buys) while neglecting players that brought them to this position.

For all those that think Marshall should be in the centres for the next 12 months and use Fittler as a comparison have a look at Fittler when he was 19. Different players. Marshall is a confidence player also - he has relished the move closer in - why not leave him there?

Fittler was 17 when he made his 1st grade debut in the centres,by the time he was Benji's age he was a kangaroo.
Benji is handling the 5/8 job quite well so leave him there.
We also have Reynolds as back up next year so IMHO we should target 3 players,Monaghan,Kite and Pritchard any others would be a bonus.

Yep, gotta agree the only players i'd be after are Monaghan, Kite and Pritchard. the latter 2 can help make our forward pack a very strong one indeed. I read that negotiations with monaghan and canberra have broken down "supposebly" and that he'll now test the market.

The worst thing this club could do is lose the prince/benji combination. Prince control's a match perfectly (except yesterday's match where he didn't have his best match) allowing benji to do whatever he wants outside him. And with benji being such a threat outwide, prince is being allowed more space to run at the line. When prince is running at the line and has runners playing off him there are few halves who are as dominant. I think the one essential for our club in the next two season is ensuring these two players are secured for a long time. The tigers have been needing a halves combination for many many years. I'd say the prince/benji combination is proving to be one of the most exciting pairings in the competition.

I think our only needs in the offseason are a big impact prop and more depth outwide. Fitzy, moodie and hodgson have secured places while the rest can probably be improved.

I`ve noticed a few people suggesting Joel Monaghan,Frank Pritchard and Brent Kite should be our prime targets to recruit for next season.I think they`re 100% correct,if we gained these 3 players we would have the side to outclass and physically dominate any team including the Roosters and Panthers!

I believe we have the following players are under contract next season:

Backs

B.Hodgson
S.Elford
D.Fitzhenry
P.Richards
B.Marshall
S.Prince
B.Reynolds

Ulitiltys

J.Wilson
D.Halatau

Forwards

A.Laffranchi
B.Galea
M.O'Neill
S.Sattler
T.Payten
B.Gibbs
R.Farah
N.Graham
L.Fulton
C.Paterson

Off contract

J.Skandalis- NEEDS to be re-signed ASAP
B.Harrison- same as above. Very promising needs to be re-signed before June 30
D.Senter- Would probably let go to let juniors come into first grade
R.Mears- same as above
J.Moodie- if he wants to go on or another year re-sign him
M.Buettner- release
R.Miles- release
L.Covell- would re-sign but I think a team like Manly may try and get him
G.Viane- if not a first grade contract then at least a Mapgies one. Hopefully we will see more of him in first grade

I am not sure if Chris Heighinton is under contact or not (does anyone know) but I would be re-signing after getting Skandalis and Harrison re-signed

Also, if possible I would see if its possible to release Nick Graham and maybe a couple of other players under contact to other clubs to free up some money.

We could do with another winger with Miles likely to go and a prop and second rower

Also does anyone know the latest with John Skandalis? I will be so glad if we can get re-signed by June 30.

I would also look to upgrade Benjis contract for another 3 years ASAP. So I am not sure how much money we will have left to buy players if we upgrade his contract along with Skandalis and Harrision. But in sayng that we only need another couples of players to fill in a couple of spots.
