Recruitment: keep investing in youth

The problem with the older players is that they lack desire.
We have retirement package written all over us at the moment.
Even good players like Jeremy Smith are not at their best because the demand week to week to stay on top of your game in a winning team is not there.

It's mentally exhausting being a shark.

It's time to keep investing in youth.
Scout the best u20 players and sign them up for a few years.
Btw, snowy seems overpriced. Too slow in D. Great bloke, great heart but not at 400 k.
Sheens pulled him off and IMO, saw him as a liability when the kiwis were on a roll.

Agree ML. There is somthing in that. Gal pointed to it on the footy show a few weeks back when he said the young fellas just want to play first grade. Given that we aren't an actractive option for marquee players bringing youngones through the club maybe our only advantage.

Agreed. Lock them in on performance based (Is that possible ? ) contracts and BUILD.

Speaking of youth, I notice that Stewart Mills will make his 1st grade debut on Sunday. It's always good when a local lad makes his debut. Can someone please tell me who the last local junior was that made his 1st grade debut for the Sharks? Just to be clear, I am not talking about someone who was brought to the club to play in the Toyota Cup and who went on to play 1st grade from there, I am talking about someone who has come up from a junior club such as Cronulla - Caringbah or De La Salle and who has gone on to play 1st grade for the Sharks.

Mills will be a phenomenon

I hope he is locked for 2 years

We can win this weekend

The roosters have picked 5 backrowers

Play them like the saints and they will fold

They are a club tinkering

All they need is an excuse to blame the coach.
