With the great man no longer with us (RIP), who is responsible for the recruitment and retention of players? Foregetting about the apparent nepotism and method of hiring Sludges' replacement, who is going to provide the approachable, trustworthy and RESPECTED lynchpin / key contact that players will want to play for. G Pierce, B. Pierce, S. Raper ? - or are there others behind the scenes.

Just a side note - Ando coaching at Canberra and Noddy off contract when ......

Greg Pierce was always the one to instruct Rogers who to chase and who made initial contact with the managers.
Theo goes on a wander to find young kids.

SE - do you feel that these guys have the right persona to convince guys to play for the Sharks? It seems to me that they may not have the Aura to instill the passion for the club with guys coming in. ie can these guys maintain/create
the Sharks culture, after all we don't have any real "clubmen" in the current squads.

Lance is a real clubman...only problem is it's just the wrong club.
From what I've seen from him he seems changed...quite spiteful towards his former club (e.g. dobbing them in for attempted salary cap cheating) and loyal to himself to prove Stain George wrong. It may not be loyalty to Cronulla, but he will give 100% to succeed individually which is going to rub off on players around him.

I've found focused players inspiring in the past. When playing with players who are focused on their goals, you yourself follow suit. I've been lucky to pick up this attitude and I can see it in Lance.

I think he owns a management company that has some young dragons on the books.

So I read in the paper last week.

we need ET to get into a prominent position, not nuffies like greg pierce
And ET is more qualified and experienced in recruitment and management than Greg Pierce in what way?

How ironic, it would be if Lance Thompson becomes the inspiration, after so many years against him.

One thing Lance can do is he will be able to see through any BS from management

Maybe the club should look at putting some guys with leadership skills (and drive for all things shark) into some management training as an option for post career involvement? Could help for these roles down the track. Also would have respect from players for negotiations.
