I e-mailed ABC a couple of weeks ago regarding when they will be broadcasting this. I got a response yesterday that said that at this stage, they have not purchased the rights to it, but will consider doing so at a later stage.

Basically, I'll be waiting for it to come out on dvd in June ..! (15th June in the UK)

I could download the shows in the mean time (I know at least one person that has already), but I would rather wait.

I believe they're waiting to see how well this 3-parter is received to see if they'll make a 9th season or to try and make the Red Dwarf movie again (they tried numerous times between the 7th and 8th seasons to get the movie off the ground, but to no avail).

I'll let you know in the next few days. Someone I know has leant me the epiodes (which I gather have been recorded off English tv and uploaded somewhere on the internet), so I'll watch them and keep you posted!

I will still buy the dvd when it comes out in a few months, but this will do for the mean time.

Okay, I've seen it now.
It is Red Dwarf, but it isn't Red Dwarf.

It wasn't filmed in front of an audience, so there's no laugh track at all. It very much looks like a film as opposed to a tv set which, comparitively, is quite flat. There's only 3 episodes, and the only main characters are Lister, Rimmer, Cat, and Kryten (with a brief cameo by another main character towards the end).

I won't say anything about the plot, because that was half the fun of watching the shows - seeing what would happen, how it would end, and how everything makes sense.

It was weird. I enjoyed it, but it was weird. It's not 'classic Red Dwarf', but it does have moments here and there that are definitely Red Dwarf-esque.
