can someone explain to me the decision making about when and where we wear the red rag.

It’s very simple.

The Dragons media team monitor the blood pressure of boomer saints supporters. When they determine they can cause the most damage, and potentially knock off a few subversive voices, they roll out the red jersey.

That's a stretch. We didn't get flogged by Penrith. And we beat Parramatta in the trial while wearing the Red V. Charity Shield was a collector's jersey.
In fact, there's only been one game in the full red jersey.
Playing the 'local derby' in Wollongong does us no favours.

Actually, the Steelers Club are not part of the Joint Venture.

Do the team admin even talk about the importance of pride in the jersey nowadays? They certainly were still doing that about 10 years ago. I'd be interested to know if that's still the case.

I agree regarding the superstition of it.

But the Red V is much more equivalent to the team’s logo than the actual logo and brands are rightly very protective of such things.

It may not make a difference to rusted on fans but it is the kind of brand recognition that can help to sway casual observers. Because god knows our style of play isn't going to do it.

I agree re the Red v but just like any other club we have to wear an alternative jersey a set amount each year, so fans need to get the fyck over it.

I liked the year that we wore a red jersey with a white V as our alternate strip, that is a good compromise or the 2015 Auckland 9's jersey with a the dragon on the front.

If we are going to wear an alternate jersey that pays homage to the Steelers, then we should wear the actual Steelers jersey otherwise lets have an alternate jersey that looks fantastic.

I also think we should have a jersey that has black replacing all of the white so its a red V on a black background. It should be worn when the club is in mourning. The tribute game for Lance Thompson should have seen us running in black jerseys as we should have for the Johnny Raper tribute game. It should be worn sparingly and hopefully there would be seasons where it never gets worn worn.

I think the heritage kit from two years ago was the best. Red and white stripes with black shorts. Loved it a lot.
