Red V gear and PREMIERS stuff

G'day guys,

picked up my Red V kit the other day - I'm happy with it. I was a little bemused that they didn't put "Premiers" on the gear (we've waited long enough to win one).

Apparently though, the NRL can dictate what and how much gear gets emblasoned with the word "PREMIERS". Seems they wanted an extra run of Premiers jerseys but the NRL put the stop on it.

I didn't realise the NRL had a license on the word Preiers, but I guess they have. At least it makes the gear collectible, I suppose.

I doubt they do. What would the labour state government have to do? Get copywrite permission from Dousty before Kristina Keneally (or however you bloody spell it) for calling her our states, 'Premier?'

I didn't mean they own the word Premier, but with regards to NRL merchandise they can say how much stuff is printed using the term.

That's what I was told, and that's why there's no new runs of Premiers jerseys once current stocks are exhausted. Same with all the Premiers gear.

The NRL control all the merchandise that goes out with an NRL tag.
So I guess they could.

2 good reasons: red vee membership packs were planned, designed, ordered, made etc before the end of last season. So it would have been impossible. Plus premiership merchandise is a great revenue stream for the club, why would you give it away for free when the true believers will basically pay whatever it takes!

i was hoping for a jersey which had 2010 premiers and world club champions on it. that would have gotten my cash.

Pardon my pedantry Major but calling our state government labour as opposed to Labor implies that they actually do (or did) any hard work and is perhaps a "Major" misnomer

I'm feeling apolitical at the moment (they're all useless IMO) but can you imagine that lot running an NRL club?
Cheers!
