Watched the Mad Dragons vodcast last night with coach Flanno. Thought it was very generous of Flanno to give his time up for what was essentially a random bunch of fans on Zoom who didn't seem prepared. FFS one "inteviewer" was holding their phone virtually upside down while travelling on a bus and walking down the street. Most of the questions weren't very good considering how long they had to prepare.
What it did show was how lucky we were to have Jack doing the Red V podcast so professionally - his preparation and professionalism was way above the standard of the vodcast crew. Imagine Jack (and Curtis) had been able to do that inteview with Flanno and how much better and substantive it would have been........
And kudos again to Flanno for giving his time to the fans. Well done Flanno. Come back Jack!

I miss the Red V podcast hosted by Jack. It was a great to listen to. The Mad Dragon Vodcast I must admit I have not listened to much and will start doing, but good to see someone having a crack and giving us Dragons fans something to listen to. Kudos to anyone putting themselves out there for us Dragons fans to listen to.

Of course he's putting them down, complaining about someone's phone? Seriously. Again, you don't know or ignore that Jack & Curtis both have experience with professional media. Curtis has written numerous sports articles, runs his own league website while Jack has been a professional cricket commentator for CA. There's no appropriate comparison with the individuals who partake in the Mad Dragons Podcast since they don't have that media experience nor background.

To praise someone while demeaning others is very poor. It's like me having expectations of everyone contributing articulate, nuanced & detailed discussion on this forum but the reality is posters don't have that type of experience nor background. Blaming someone else for your own incorrect expectation is wrong.

Red V Podcast was amazing but they aren't around anymore, part of it was due to negativity from fans. I would hate to see the same happen with Mad Dragons. Be grateful they organised the interview. A bit of respect wouldn't go astray..

Remember when Jack was hounded down for rightly calling out blatant nepotism and alluding to Shane not being the answer given his massive blindspot with Kyle?

There are a few people with egg all over their faces.

I remember saying when we signed Kyle that if he is Shane's hill to die on he won't have my support, because Kyle is not even close to a first grader.

Shane has made it abundantly clear that he is not interested in doing what's best for the club or the team. His interest is in keeping his son in a job.

To add to that, his play style is boring, lacklustre, conservative to the nth degree, outdated, mundane and downright dumb. His selections are completely f**ked. His recruitment has been abhorrent.

The writing is on the wall for Shane now. Let's hope that the damage he's done is not irreparable.

Yes! I had this exact thought last night re Jack and the podcast!

...but if Jack had to cover the first four founds of 2026 he'd be in a padded cell. He made the right call (for now). I just hope he and Curtis comeback one day!

Jack did not deserve to be shut down for having an opinion. One that a fair portion of the supporter group also shared.

First of all - we wish Kyle all the best. He was knocked out for 5 mins from all reports. It's going to be a long lay off. No player or any other sporting professional for that matter deserves that.

But we can't ignore the elephant in the room on this one.

Shane got a soft press conference and a reprieve as a result. I expect Paul Crawley (one of his biggest critics) and the NRL360 crew to go somewhat easy on him as well (at least this week).

Cookie just sits there forced to say nothing and lap it up. I feel like the playing group knows (likely better than any of us because they train with him every day) that Kyle is a one dimensional option in the six. The problem with both Cookie & Gutho right now - the Mr Reliables have suddenly got errors creeping into their game because they are forced to over play their hands due to the team being desperately out of form.

The fact that fair portion of our supporter group has been calling for an injury just so a change going forward would be forced - how has it gotten to this ? Pretty sad when you sit back and think about it.

From what I can see, the only alternative we have immediately is Atko to 6, Reed in at 7 and carry LKT and/or O'Neil on the extended bench for cover.

As for the other issues, such as lack of speed and game breaking ability in our back 5, I'm lost because we simply don't have the depth. Is Xerri still a potential option? Can we get Sami down early?

I was saying this as far back as the infamous Gus post-mortem of the 2019 season. The last decent winger we had on the books was Jason Nightingale. We are still yet to successfully replace him 8 years post his retirement.

This is one of the lowest points for me as a supporter in 35 years watching. For the first time I can't even defend them at the office water cooler conversation (or perhaps I'm just over having to do this every week).

I hope Jack & Curtis do re-surface at some point. Really curious to hear their thoughts on our current state of affairs.

I didn't mind the selections during the season (all of Flannos favourites, Kyle being one of them), I could at least understand his logic... but I had assumed Shane was hungry to improve the squad.. and Kyle or CT etc would move down the hierarchy list when upgrades came.. that turned out not to be the case.. so yes it did end up being a hill Shane was willing to die on.. but it wasn't just Kyle.. he has a bunch of favourites he rates far too highly.

Unless we are one day back and flying again (that is no guarantee), I can't see a reason for Jack to want to do that podcast again.. the internet is a nasty nasty place.. and he has to interact with all of the fans... and hes not even getting paid for it (afaik).... I mean we have a hard enough time playing nice on here, and this is the cream de la cream of high-brow fans.
