Referee Dissent

Two just lol. Both were clearly no tries and Brisbane had Gilletts's one overturned so that evened itself out anyway

No they weren't. They weren't clearly Tries but they weren't clearly No Tries either.

But let me rephrase for the pedantic. The Cowboys cross the Try line twice for what would have been match winning tries had they been awarded.

The referee owes JT no explanation of absolutely any decision.

To me even his sanitised version of events shows dissent and should warrant a fine. Saying they "as usual" couldn't explain their decision implies he thinks they are incompetent, and he should be pulled into line.

Mins you, this is golden boy Thurston who has been given free reign to swear and carry on at officials as much as he likes for years. I recall Johns got suspended for 3 weeks for telling a touch judge a decision was f**ked. Thurston has on multiple occasions gone off on the most foul mouthed rants you can think of about refs and never even been cited,

FFS he called the entire NRL cheats and conspirators against his team without any consequences

Your recollection is hazy. Johns yelled "f**k you merkin" to the touch judge.

JT did not show dissent towards the ref...he did however show his competitiveness. I can see how some would confuse the two.

The rest of the NRL learn't the refs were fair game after Graham and his Dogs players went nutso last year and got tiny slaps on the wrist.

Greg Bird spent the whole game against the Raiders screaming and crying to refs and touchies. I think he is getting even worse as his career goes on.

Thurston, Lyon and Smith are the worst. Just constantly badgering refs on every single call against them. At least Smith and Lyon are measured though. Thurston just yells at them his whole career and gets away with it

It was Graham and Klemmer followed his captain. Graham was ultimately suspended for 4 weeks while Klemmer was sin binned and suspended for 3 weeks.

Coincidentally, it was the easter weekend 2015.

So hardly a tiny slap on the wrist. But granted, it doesn't seem to be sending the message through to the players.

In round 1 this year Cameron Smith was doing what he does to unsettle the ref, it wasn't long before some of his team mates were joining in. At one point the Melbourne lock forward Dale Finucane was shouting in the face of the ref. The ref did nothing about it. If the League were consistent, players who do that should be suspended too.
