I'd like to know what fellow supporters think about our year, the players, the highs and lows and what the future may bring. Post away........

We need more mongrel/niggle in our game. Other than that, we have a young team that had been blooded with regular and finals football and we should be taking away from this year's experience with a lot of positives.

It was a very good year for us.

It was a good year for us all things considered but it's how we build on it that counts. We didn't build on the 4th place in 2014 into 2015 (injuries didn't allow us but still..) and we had to re-build the team with a new coach in 2016. The positive thing is that this 2016 team has a lot more improvement and potential for growth than the 2014 team due to the youth factor.

This could be the building year we look back on that to say that's where we turned the corner, IF we are regular contenders in the coming years and win a comp as well.

Our winning percentage over 50 years is 43%. This year it was 58%. We've had better years than this year 7 times in 50 years (1989, 1990, 1991, 2003, 2004, 2010, 2014). Even 1989 and 2010 are debatable as we went out in straight sets those years. That's a bit better than passable IMHO.

It will be nice to do better next year but you can't count on it. We all thought 2015 would be our year but we ended up playing the Grand Final for the spoon.

The good - Cleary, Martin, Fisher Harris, Griffin, Blake, Griffin punting our stregth and conditioning team, Moylans form as an elite FULLBACK, Mansours form especially after origin
The bad - not playing for the full 80 minutes in some games, missed tackle counts like yesterday, and the good old fashion brain farts from some of our players at crunch times

Please stop saying we have a young team - I'm sick of hearing this.

WE HAVE A YOUNG TEAM BECAUSE WE LET GO OF ELIJAH TAYLOR, JAMES SEGYARO AND JAMIE SOWARD.

This is your fault Griffin

The poor season in 2015 was in large part due to a crippling injury toll. Ronnie Palmer was shown up for being a dinosaur and now he's left.

One massive positive will be full pre seasons for almost everyone. Been years since we have had that. Hopefully Moylan starts training at 6 in a months time :p

It was a good season overall. The most disappointing thing is that I think Cartwright has stagnated a little being forced into 6. Still have question marks over Griffin's tactics - it appears he has the ability to set up a team to smash weaker sides off the park, which is half the battle, granted, but I still have doubts over our ability to take on the better sides. Particularly given our peculiar use of the bench throughout the season.

As we saw with Fisher-Harris at the end of last night's game, discipline (and handling) are still things that need to be worked on.

It was a poor season to begin with. But the second half of the season was good once we started to face the shit teams and did what a decent team should do to them.

We need to improve on this season next year though or it's a failure. The minimum we should expect is top 6 and second week of finals. We should be better for the experience.

The highlight for me was seeing young Cleary given a shot at first grade and showing that he is an absolute star in the making. I was disappointed in Hook's decision to play Cartwright in the 6 and not in the back row. From how we looked in that home game against an understrength Sharks outfit, I think it was a pretty solid effort to make the 8.

That season was a ripper. It's not often we make the finals at all and to do it playing some scintilating football, riding a bunch of kids we've all been waiting to see come through since Gus arrived.

Firstly Griffin. Huge tick from me. I wasn't a fan of making him coach. He has got the big decisions right for the most part. He's had balls and has drastically changed the team while keeping the team really tight. Players improved out of sight under him, complete rookies, seasoned pros and budding superstars alike. He even showed towards the end of the year once he had a few pieces in place what he can do tactically. Penriths attack hasn't looked this slick for over a decade.

Players. Moylan warmed into the season and absolutely caught fire at the end. He is probably in the top 5 players in the world right now. Mansour probably the best winger. Dallin also warmed into the season but ended in career best form. If he carries that into next year, I would be happy to see him at the back. Centers obviously also fantastic. We are probably two years closer to our final form halves than I thought. Whether it's Martin next year or Moylan, we should be there when everything is at stake this time next year and another point of attack would seriously OP our attack. I like Martin because he'd complete what looks like watertight edge defence.

Forward I think our back row is great. Merrin is a beast. Yeo has become so much better than I thought he would. Black-hole in defence and can run some nice lines and link with his backline. As most Im still puzzled by the Cartwright call. Regardless, his stats have improved in every metric this season. Outside of that he started to show better decision making and adjust defensively. With less responsibility and defending one in I think he is in for a real breakout year.

I think the props were our downfall in the end. Matagi is great but not a starter. Latu, really good but not the physical presence we need of we want to match it with the best sides early. Tamou will help and hopefully brings these young props along for the ride. They all have so much talent but need to be able to do the tough stuff error free. We currently rely on our backs too much.

Wallace has been a revelation. His service, defence, organization, kicking and courage have been incredible. Happily have him for a few more years. We do need to start figuring out his replacement though. We barely use our fourth bench spot so it might as well be on a hooker. Katoa or Luke both seem good options. Given the type of player Griffin is using at hooker at the moment, I wonder if ZDC would suit our style of play and what the side needs from a hooker..

I think we also lack a power runner. JFH on short minutes or Kikau would be great to see as a wrecking ball. All the good sides have them. Swing momentum for you at crucial times.

Anyway to wrap up this rambling. I think we made a lot of progress this year. We know who we need to build around. We need to make some decisions about which really good player to put where next year. We will also get the luxury of preparing for a full off season with every player fit, knowing what their role in the team will be. Then we have the whole season to work on it. We aren't the complete article this year. Next year we will have better playing talent, more experience, better preparation and better strength and conditioning staff I hope!

Yeah I think the props, despite the abundance we have are just lacking at the moment. The likes of Matagi etc. can play good short minutes but are too on and off. Hopefully Tamou improves that. I think that if he plays well enough that may just be the bit we are missing from being complete.

Overall I think we had a good season particularly when you consider how we were travelling mid season. Moylan was just killing it post-origin and I just hope he has the number 6 on his back next year and give DWZ fullback who also finished off the season well. Mansour was unbelievable , he scored some amazing tries and like DWZ does a heap of work helping the forwards work it out of our end. And although I wasn't intially a Griffin fan I do admire him for taking a punt on Cleary and moving on big name players who he considered weren't up to scratch. All up I would score us 7.5 out of 10.

We overhauled our roster mid season and still made the 2nd week of the finals that's positive. Having the same roster again next year should see further development of the team
