What is the point of it?

If the vid ref sees doubt, isn't the benefit meant to be given to the attacking team?

It's stupid.

most of the time the ref will send it up to the video but will be holding an opinion on the outcome. if teh video ref can't see the end result due to camera angles, people in the way, etc he will send it back as ref's call and the ref will act on their opinion at the beginning.

If the video ref can't conclude shouldn't it then be Benefit of the Doubt?

You're an idiot. If he can't see something due to camera angles and the referee had a better view, he'll hand it back.

Far out.

refs call is basically when the video ref can not see what happened. b.o.d is different - there is a small element of doubt in whether the ball is grounded (maybe one angle doesn't look good but others do) and the video ref can see this. therefore the b.o.d goes to the attacking team.

I've never seen the point of Ref's call, if the ref goes to the video then he is unsure. So if the video ref cannot make a decision it should be benefit to the attacking team (TRY).

On so many occasions i've seen the "Ref's call" flash up and tries disallowed, makes no sense.

Sometimes it's flashed ref's call and the try given... it just depends. Sometimes the ref might just do it for re-assurance but if the camera angles can't offer that then the VR is entitled to throw it back. For instance in the case of held-ups, if the ref thinks it may have been held up, he still throws it up, replays are inconclusive and there's no real BotD call to be made, the ref's call is flashed up and it goes back for held up.

The Ref obviously going to have an opinion over whether he thinks it's a try or not, however if he isn't completely sure then he should be going to the video ref.

The "Ref's Call" button is used when the video ref cannot determine from any video angle whether it was a try, and thus cannot rule either way. So he passed it back the Ref who probably had a better view, and has seen the video replays anyway.

I don't see why people think "Ref's Call" doesn't make sense. If the video ref cannot determine and believes the on field ref would have more of an idea being on the spot he should be throwing it back to him.
