We win the comp.

I'm certainly no fluffy but 10 months out I'm putting it out there.

A few things.:

We go in stronger - no mcplod. Burns/JC cemented and experienced. You win a comp with a pack and AFB will have a monster year. As good as Walsh was he did his thing because of what the 8-13 provided and this is our best pack for years.

Human nature = when we are young we go about the things we want in all the wrong ways and its in our later years we reflect and see how we should have done things. The advantage of an older group who are tight and who have been through a lot together.
A group who know they'll be disbanded after this season. This is a happy camp of older guys who will have their best season since 2016.
Ima say the halves will have finally worked it out. I think we will see something different.

And finally. A feeling. A strong one. And that above any other points leads me to this epiphany.

It may not be there round 1, but I'll be having a decent fling at us im the decider and fair whack at us winning it.

How long should it takes for the halves to work it out, under that policy the Roosters should not have bought DCE as will take about 3 season for it to work with Walker who is younger then both our halves

How many games have you seen pollard play? Or Puru for that matter? Did they carve Reggie’s up consistently to warrant an nrl spot?
Sure kennedey is the weak link, but the reality is, if ison doesn’t do his ACL he likely finished the year as the 1.
You call for Gabriel. But the bloke could barely string 2-3 games together. He has severe issues with his motor and needed extended periods of repeat hard training.
im sure you were desperate for vaela as well. Worked out well. He wasn’t ready physically and won’t be seen in the 17 again.

The squad they have to pick from will be competing for the 4 and the last remaining part is the mental toughness.

Your obsession with Hynes is getting a bit much. He has been a halfback for 4 years. Never played as a 7 prior to the sharks.
Trindall needs to be the catch pass and kick guy, with Hynes playing as the runner on both sides of the ruck. Naturally a better fit.
To blame Hynes wholely and solely as the reason we lost in the semi the past 2 years Is very short sighted and choosing a scapegoat because he is the “main” guy.

DCE has been guiding elite sides for over a decade. Hes been the 7 for the Australian team. He knows what he's doing. In a running side like Tedesco Nawa-alphabet, Smith and Chrichton he will take them to another level.
Walker is our Trindall. Been a 7 all his life and a good one. But isn't a 26 week or even an 80 minute one yet. But will be.
Theyve had since November together and will be a dynamic pairing and probably play us in the big one.

Whereas walker will learn more from playing with DCE than any other phase of his footballing life, Tricky has been punted to 6 to play alongside a 14. Hynes is not an NRL halfback and never will be. Hes a runner.

But Fitzy will surely have realised by now to do something different. He is still on his P's but he's not an idiot.
He keeps talking about that next step and you dont get there by doing the same things you've been doing. Im expecting less 'halfbacking' from Hynes and more from trindall and brailey.

Prime example last night two teams who finished level last season.
One seems to be on the improve, another as I believe will regress.
Players have been kept to long and it will show through.
I keep hearing Fitz say the halves need time, how many years now together.
Let's see how that compares with the Panthers halves by end of season year 2 for them and Cleary missed a few games last year, so that should take time

I'm prepared to put a line through last night and say we're better than that (without the emotion during or straight after the game). We got shafted with no lube by Klein from the get go and that changes everything when you're chasing the game - no excuses for that shitshow in defence right on halftime though.

I know people will rant on me for this post, but last year was our best chance, the comp was weaker than normal, and we couldn't get it done.

From that Fitz said let's stick with the same squad.

Other teams went and strengthened, there teams we sat on our hands, it will come back to bite.
Looked good against one of the bottoms teams.
Come up against a top 8 team and attacked and defence fall apart

What a difference a week makes. Round 2 and the season has been written off by a number of people. Canberra got dusted by 40. The Donkeys got beaten to 0 then then imploded against Parra. Using the same logic…last years Premiers and Minor Premiers are cooked too. Yes we were disappointing but it’s almost like some of us thrive on our perceived failings. Does my head in.

Plenty of truth in that, but the fact is we've fallen short for the past couple of years and need to up our game to be any chance of taking it out.

To persist with the same ageing squad that has failed to deliver over that period does not instil a great deal of confidence.
Particularly amongst the pack.

Until Cleary's 40/20 the other night we were dominating them.
Belting them, to be fair.
Even after that we looked solid.

Then the benchies come on and we fall out of the contest.
Same as last week when the Tits started to show a little something.
Same as in the trial vs the Eels kiddies.

And yet they'll all be named on Tuesday as we have nothing coming through putting pressure on them.

Outside backs?
Well who knows where Ison is?
And the other great white hope, Gabrael, came up with a tackle efficiency of ~60% the other day.
I don't see him coming in any time soon, based on those numbers.

So we're stuck with the same capable, but ultimately ineffective, backs we already have.
