Rep bonuses

Does anyone know if the Sharks snorkels at the World Cup are going to get rep bonuses?

There's 9 of them. Even a shitty $10k each makes a cap dent at some time.

I get that but then again, maybe the low tier players need the bonus more. They've probably only received 50% of the Gasnier Deal. $1.34 (rounded up) and a party pie

The combination of the rep bonuses could see the club having to pay out as much as $85,000 in rep bonuses which will affect their salary cap.

“That’s where the cap is wrong, the better you go, the more you get penalised,” Penrith CEO Brian Fletcher told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“There’s nothing wrong with us giving them a bonus, we don’t mind paying it, but it’s terrible when you have to put it in the cap. You get penalised twice.”

Perhaps it is time the NRL looked at not including rep bonuses in the cap, so that clubs are not penalised for their player’s success in achieving representative honours.

I think that’s club contracts where they agree to pay more if you make a rep side. Rep payments don’t get added

Yeah, so it’s what each contract says. Some might have 0, others 10s of thou. I imagine most would have bonuses (on top of rep payments) in their contracts unless the player is very young.

Don’t know if contracts would typically have bonuses for minnow call ups. I doubt it.
