Good footy, less authoritarian bullshit, try not to miss a game . . . why should this weekend be different than any other

Samoa Tonga is the highlight. But there's something about every game that I can get excited about.

the worst thing is i'll have to listen to 9's commentary for the first time this year because there's no Fox simulcast :fist:

I'd say East Coast Tiger would say that, but it's something too positive for him and not a whinge.

All the international footy will be good. Be curious to see how the Roos go under Mal.

Don't worry. Your bumchums at the NRL will kill it off, just like the test match. That's what happens when an administration only cares about western Sydney.

Can't wait to see Semi get the pay cheque he's after. Another joke brought to you by the NRL's neglect for the international game.

In this order:

Iron Maiden
PNG v Fiji
Samoa v Tonga
City v Country
Aus v NZ

I have no real interest in watching the ARL continue to trash the international game by picking Fijians to beat half an NZ team.

"City country is a waste of time" said every oxygen thief who is happy to see rugby league cease to exist outside Sydney. Don't worry you'll get your wish soon enough.

So how is Australia trashing the international game by selecting a player who is eligible under international rules. I think I read that Radrada is the first player picked for Australia through the residency rule since Keith Barnes in the 1950s. Hardly earth shattering, 2players in 60plus years. FFS there is enough genuine shit to whinge about without having to keep making shit up and perpetuating lies that just suit agendas. People constantly whinge about Australia not playing enough tests, when they finally do they still find shit to whinge about.

Yawn. It's just the latest in a long line of instances of Australia trashing the game. As you alluded to, last year it was refusing to play end of year tests at all. Shortly before that they picked Sione Mata'utia, a player who is clearly not rep quality, just to prevent someone else from picking him up on the off chance they might pick him again later. And there is the ongoing issue of using a state series to basically bribe players into representing Australia when they otherwise might not.

The Kangaroos are (or were, until they got flogged by the Kiwis 3 times in a row) the best team in the world and the ARL still tries to stack the deck in their favour.

Must admit that even as an ardent International RL advocate, the last couple of weeks of drama and controversy regarding eligibility, selection and the problems of solving these has taken the shine off this weekend for me.

This time last year I was very keen and attended the QLD V NSW Residents game mid arvo before driving madly to get to Lang Park to see the postponed Oz v NZ Test Match. Day before had been at pub / mates places watching the triple from the Gold Coast with 3 great games occuring.

Re the games my ranking of interest is:

1. PNG V Fiji
2. Samoa v Tonga
3. The Junior Test - Oz v NZ
4. The Senior Test - Oz v NZ
5. QLD V NSW Residents
6. The Womens Test - OZ V NZ
7. City v Country

I am beginning to have genuine concerns re public interest for next years RLWC based the debacle of the last week or so.

As soon as you mention World Cup in any sport, people sit up and take notice and interest goes through the roof

I think next years World Cup will be huge especially with PNG and Fiji host games as well as Australia and NZ. Plus a new Tv channel broadcasting the games at the right time of year before the cricket season and after the AFL season people will be loving the World Cup Partisan.
