I see the brothel owner came out today saying how none of the players were ever there, fine....What about the constant talk of the bets coming from the brothel, and the tips coming from the brothel...that is why you were named, not because you threw out some sympathy roots for inside information. Not a single word about any of those allegations, interesting given the opportunity to cover all of the ground.

NRL match-fixing claims quashed

November 18, 2009 - 2:44PM

AAP

Victoria's gambling regulator says there is no evidence to support allegations that the round 26 NRL match between the Sydney Roosters and North Queensland Cowboys was fixed.

The Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR) sent a "please explain" letter to the NRL after bookmakers reportedly suspended betting three times before the game when a splurge of bets backed the Cowboys to win by more than 13 points.

The Roosters, who had started favourites, surrendered a 16-0 half-time lead to lose the match 32-16.

The game, played at Sydney Football Stadium in the final round of the NRL regular season, had no impact on the make-up of the finals.

The VCGR said the NRL had fully and properly investigated the matter and recognised the importance of protecting the sport's integrity.

The NRL was approved by the VCGR as a sports controlling body for betting purposes in May last year.

"The VCGR is satisfied that the NRL continues to monitor and maintain the integrity of rugby league," the VCGR said in a statement.

It'd be a nice and refreshing change if Magnay came out and wrote an article about how she was wrong again

So can the Roosters now sue the Herald and Magnay for defamation and unfounded reports 'injuring the charachter and good name of the club'?

Think Peter FitzSimons should publicly apologise for his statement inferring the Roosters were up to something.

Meanwhile, after defaming the club, the players and not to mention the game itself, the paper and it's journalist hack will go unpunished so they can continue to do it again and again.

The club and the NRL are powerless to sue as the paper will boycott covering the game or be more determined to only cover the bad news.

What happened to accountability?

would love the roosters and the brothel owner to take legal action. there seems to be zero accoutnability for journalists in this country, they can say and write whatever they want without any proof and if they're wrong there's no consequences for their actions.
