Rethink of ANZAC Day Games

Think we are all in agreement that NZ needs to play at home on Anzac day. While at the same time not taking away from Melbourne's marquee game of the season.

How about...

1) NZ Warriors V Brisbane Broncos
2) Dragons V Roosters
3) Storm V Rabbitohs

Triple header set in stone going forward.

thoughts.. NZ need to be home on Anzac day for many reasons while Melbourne still have their game.
No, just no. Can we not keep one tradition in rugby league? I’m surprised it has lasted this long. Two sell outs, leave it alone.

There’s a fair bit of military in Townsville, Newcastle (Air Force base) and Canberra too. Those cities deserve to recognise their military on ANZAC Day.
Cowboys and Raiders could also make this a special ANZAC ÐAY tradition . Play this game alternatively between the 2 towns.

What f**king tradition?! Let's not pretend that the "traditional" ANZAC day games are something that they're not.

Nick Politis using his influence in the NRL to gain a monopoly over one of the most lucrative matchdays annually doesn't make it a tradition. It also says something that the NRL and media have been so successful in gaslighting the average fan and the rest of the sport into accepting that games that started in 02 and 09 respectively are "traditional".

Both were nothing more than cynical attempts to gain a commercial advantage over their competition, the NRL allowing it to happen was a failure as a governing body, and neither of them make a great deal of sense as ANZAC day traditions.

But it wasn’t until Saints/Easts turned into something special. It had been going for more than 15 years before some fans started to bitch and moan about it.

I think they should leave it alone but adding a Brisbane/Dolphins game seems inevitable. Gives a game for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

If fans are worried about some clubs making a lot of money by getting the Anzac Day game, then maybe the entire proceeds of round 8 should be divided equally amongst all the clubs. Maybe the Easter long weekend round too since Souths/Dogs are lucky enough to get the Easter Show walk-ins.

Other clubs just need to be pro-active and go to the NRL with an idea if they want a regular marquee game.

There are plenty of opportunities still available

just about ever slot over the Easter weekend (including Thursday), ANZAC eve, ANZAC Day 2PM, Kings Birthday Weekend, mothers day are all occasions that are there for the taking.

If you start a new “tradition” next year, it will take years to build. Just leave it. Are Raiders going to sell out a game on ANZAC day next year? Are Raiders going to sell out a game, ever in the future? Look inside yourself and you will find the answer.

It's a shame there was a group of Warriors supporters yelling out as the last post was about to be played. NO RESPECT

I think it's unfair that the Roosters and St George always get to play the ANZAC Day game. It should clearly be rotated.*

*I'm kidding. This is the dumbest thread on this forum for quite a while.
