They did not make a loss on the CC Final. They had 50,000 people there on pretty pricey tickets. The event most definitely made a profit.

They've re-arranged the balance sheet to blame the loss on the foreign club.

Any evidence?

Common sense?
How can you make a loss on an event that sells 50,000 tickets, when the biggest expense (the players salaries) are paid by their own clubs? Does it cost 3 million quid to hire out Wembley for the day?

They've, quite obviously imo, budgeted for the CC to make a certain amount of money, spent that money elsewhere, then blamed Catalans when the Cup final didnt meet their estimate.

I have no idea how much it costs to hire Wembley for a day. I would suggest it’s not an insignificant cost though. It’s not the only cost in hosting such an event either.

They would have set their annual budget on an expected revenue generation from the CCfinal, the fact it didn’t reach that expected revenue is why thy went in the red, ergo the failure to sell the anticipated 70k plus final tickets was the cause of the loss. 20k at £20 a ticket equals the loss. Yes u could argue they should have budgeted for a lower revenue due to the chance Dragons getting there but I suspect they cut their cloth pretty close as it is now the SL tv money is going to SL org, not them.
