Ricky Ponting Cricket...

Bought Cricket 2005 from EB, returned it next day.

The game has so much potential though. This game just seemed like it wasnt finished off, too many rough edges. For mine, if EA release a Cricket 2006, then I most certainly will be first in line to purchase it. Save your money though on this one, stick to any cricket games you already own for now. Though, I will give Ricky Ponting's Cricket a try.

Yeah, I was going to ask if Ricky Ponting's Cricket is the same title as Brian Lara's Cricket, which has recently been released all formats here in England.

Have played Lara's a few times in the shops and it seems to go allright? Lots of game options, have got used to bowling quite well, haven't much clue batting yet... Only downside so far it's it's got Bill Lawry and Tony Greig amongst the commentators :D

I've only played the demo of BLIC, and compared to Cricket 2005 it plays like a stale turd.

Cricket 2005 (on PC) is where it's at for mine - graphics, AI, & difficulty. Just finished a test match against the Kiwi's on a normal pitch with fine weather. I needed 250-260 odd to win and was cruising - PFFT!! All out for barely 200 with Bond bowling inswinging yorkers at 140+ clicks...great stuff.

I'll have to try it - haven't seen it on playable display here or as a demo around anywhere yet though...

I've got Brian Lara Cricket, and it's very good. Much better than EA's Cricket 2005.

Batting is much more enjoyable, and the bowling is very similar. Fielding is much better too, and the overall controls are superior.
The only downside to BLIC 2005 is the lack of real player names (although they are there if you play the ICC tourneys), and the lack of stat collecting (except for career player). Graphics are a little better on EA Cricket 2005 as well.

I got this about 2 weeks ago and from what I understand will be just about the same as Ricky Ponting Cricket, which isn't coming out until the end of September. Not bad for $75 either.

n which one should i buy pontings or ea??

Got rid of the sig, I don't want Covell showing up everywhere I post ;-)
Ponting is more fun but less realistic. EA cricket is more realstic but very hard to come to grips with. Again pratice makes perfect. Also if you need patches go to www.planetcricket.net
