Ricky Stuart quits as Cronulla Sharks coach

EMBATTLED coach Ricky Stuart has quit the Cronulla Sharks. The former Test and Origin coach has handed in his resignation and will leave at the end of the season.

I asked Stuart about his future at the Sharks last week and he said: “I don’t want to talk about it.”

It is believed he has been in talks with the Sharks management about his future for several weeks.

The club has called a midday press conference to announce the decision.

My information is that assistant coach Shane Flanaghan will be named as the replacement next year.

Over the weekend, Stuart’s named was linked to the Wests Tigers.

This is unexpected after a good game on Saturday night where things seemed to work...

Flanagan as replacement? Eh... Why not go for Murray?

Shane Flanaghan? Surely there is someone better that they can get for next season.

Nathan Brown? At least hes coached at this level.

Well could see it coming with his results, something had to give. Wouldn't mind grabbing him back to the Raiders to help coach our halves.

Ricky Stuart is a myth and a whinger...all he does is complain that he doesn't have a first grade squad at cronulla...OK lets go through the team:

Blake Furguson one of the best young players in the game
Luke Covell a NZ international
Paul Gallen - Aus and NSW
Anthony Tupou - AUS and NSW
Tim Smith - 2005 rookie of the year
Trent Barrett - AUS and NSW
John Morris - Established first grader
Paul Aiton
Kade Snowdon and Luke Douglas have played City/Country
Adam Cuthbertson who was a star at Manly.

The names just keep coming...

Dicky has always been overrated.Always blames everyone else for his failures, referees, players, board disunity etc.

I think the piece of sh*t will end up at Newcastle.Hopefully he f**ks off to England.

Damn right. The other winger is a bit of a speed merchant too.

It must put a motivational dampener on the players when the coach is defending himself basically saying he has an understrength mob. The performance they put on on the weekend should be the norm for a team of that calibre.

Blake Furguson - An ok player that every club has a few of.
Luke Covell - The worlds slowest winger, nothing special.
Paul Gallen - Agreed, good player
Anthony Tupou - WAS a good player at the Roosters, been rubbish since.
Tim Smith - Rookie of the year 5 years ago, big whoop!
Trent Barrett - Went to school with Jesus Christ.
John Morris - Give me a break, this guy is a kind of solid player but isnt anywhere even in the top 10 hookers in the NRL.
Paul Aiton - A bench hooker....so?
Kade Snowdon and Luke Douglas - Both very solid first graders
Adam Cuthbertson - Was ok at Manly, never been anything special though.

Half of those names are nothing to write home about and certainly not the core of a good team.
