No, Don Furner simply said that he has not spoken to Ricky. We all know that it would come through Fordham anyway.

The delay is that the Raiders have formed a sub-committee to review applicants etc. I suspect that the delay is that they need to be seen to carry out some sort of due diligence as Board members to avoid criticism down the track.
we all know how fans react if positions aren't advertised on seek

Didn't Ricky initially knock back the raiders because David Furner is his close friend and didnt want to challenge him for the position?

After all that has been said and now that we have received an email from SS why hasn't Ricky made a statement?

Well he will no longer be challenging him now if he is no longer in the job.

. PARRAMATTA coach Ricky Stuart was left seething a month ago, after discovering that club directors had privately discussed a move to hire predecessor Brian Smith to run an independent review of the football department.

The revelation comes at crucial juncture for the Eels and Stuart, who has received informal overtures to quit the final two years of his current deal and coach Canberra in 2014.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal at least one newly elected Eels board member, Peter Serrao, recently urged an independent review of the club’s coaching structure, following three consecutive years of failure.

Smith and another ex-Eels coach, Michael Hagan, were raised as candidates to run the review.

In the role for less than a year, Stuart was disappointed when he learned about the proposal and is believed to have spoken with Serrao.

Parramatta chairman Steve Sharp said the idea had since been abandoned and no review would be conducted.

“It was something that one director might have mentioned, but was never raised in the boardroom and it’s not something that will be happening,” Sharp said.

“Ricky set up a great structure for NSW Origin when he was coaching the Blues and we back him to do that here.”

The idea that Stuart’s department would be placed under independent scrutiny so soon into his three-year contract illustrates his increasingly rocky relationship with some members of the split board.

The Daily Telegraph this week revealed the Eels board was now fractured three ways, with another director – Lawrence Shepherd – now at odds with his ParraFirst running mates from this year’s election.

Shepherd is closely aligned with ex-CEO Denis Fitzgerald, who is attempting to advise the board on a range of key decisions.

It’s understood Shepherd is not as supportive of Stuart as other directors, which still include loyalists from the old board who appointed the 2002 premiership winner last year.

Sharp has publicly distanced himself from Fitzgerald’s influence, creating a wedge between his faction and the Fitzgerald-aligned Shepherd.

Stuart could not be contacted for comment, but is firmly on Canberra’s radar to replace sacked coach and former Raiders team mate David Furner in 2014.

He wants to finish the difficult job of rebuilding Parramatta, but should the fractured board continue to agitate there’s every chance he could seriously entertain a possible offer from the Raiders.

Stuart has also overhauled the roster, telling 12 players they are unwanted for next season.

Since making the tough call in early June, Parramatta have won just a single game as several players struggle to find the motivation to perform week-in, week-out.

Unwanted pair Reni Maitua and Cheyse Blair have secured deals with the Bulldogs and Sea Eagles respectively, while fullback Jake Mullaney looks set to join UK Super League outfit Salford.

With halfback Chris Sandow in rehab for serious gambling issues, the Eels are now eying former Manly playmaker Liam Foran as a possible back-up option.

First I don't now if there is any truth on the article but if there is why does Ricky thinks he is beyond a review of the coaching structure ? Nearly every employee out there gets reviewed on their performance to identify areas for improvement. Looks like Ricky's ego is getting to big as he can't handle a review.

Also good to see the leaks have stopped - can the board start suing people who leak ?

Agree 100% with the bolded bit Josh, we have had 4 wins all year, in one of the worst years i can remember as a Parra fan. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a look at things we can do better.

Because he was hired to do a job under a coaching structure of his choosing. Then some goose (apparently) suggests bringing in two former Eels coaches to come in and let him know whether he's got an ok structure. People in other fields of employment do not typically have their strategic choices assessed by individuals who their employer decided were not the coach they wanted.

I'm a long way from be a Ricky apologist.....but this is f**king stupid if true.

Why does be think he is beyond a review if we have gone backwards this year? Stuart had a falling out with Phil Gould at the Roosters and initially blamed him for getting the sack, he then was at loggerheads with the Sharks board and left without being on speaking terms with the Sharks boss, Irvine. He was then. forced out of the Australian job after attacking the World Cup referee. Now it appears he has a fractured relationship with our board. Coincidence or is a pattern forming here?

Ricky you are not Wayne Bennett. You are an overrated hack living off a victory that the late and great Graham Murray built. You are a sook. You are difficult to deal with especially when things are not going your way and your back is against the wall. If you are doubting your ability for a moment please leave.

Eels ask Ricky Stuart to list his demands

by: Stuart Honeysett
From: The Australian

THE confusion surrounding Ricky Stuart's tenure at Parramatta could be resolved on Tuesday.

Stuart is hot property following reports Canberra is interested in him as a replacement for David Furner and it is understood the premiership-winning coach is fed up with the in-fighting that is crippling the Eels.

It is believed the issue came to a head at a board meeting on Thursday night when Stuart was asked to go away and compile a list of what he wants to see out the final two years of his contract.

Talks have now been suspended until Tuesday to accommodate the club's match against St George Illawarra at Parramatta Stadium on Monday night.

While there have been reports that the board is split over keeping Stuart on as coach, chairman Steve Sharp reiterated his belief yesterday that all directors were 100 per cent committed to him coaching for the next two seasons.

"We met with Ricky and his management the other day and we assured him that we're 100 per cent committed to Ricky being the coach of the Eels going forward," Sharp said.

"We assured him that we want him here and we're quite happy for him to sort out what we need to do.

"It was a good meeting and Ricky wants to stay on board. He's got some concerns, as everybody has around the place at the moment. We want to concentrate on winning this game of football on Monday and then we'll discuss with Ricky again on Tuesday about what we need to do to go forward and fix it all up."

The Eels' chairman also posted an open letter on the club's website yesterday to reassure members the club was heading in the right direction with Stuart but there were destabilising influences.

"The board and I are aware of a small number of individuals who want to pursue a negative agenda against the club to stop the necessary reforms that we are making to transform the Eels into a major force in the NRL again," Sharp wrote.

"Let me be clear -- we will not let these people continue to drag our club down as they pursue their own agendas. The board and I will continue to operate with our values at the forefront of our minds -- CARE, COURAGE, EXCELLENCE, INCLUSIVENESS and TEAMWORK. I ask that you stand with us, side by side, with integrity and a willingness to push forward positively."

If Stuart left it could have disastrous consequences for the players he has lured to the club next year, with speculation they all have get-out clauses in their contracts if he chooses to move on.

Brisbane five-eighth Corey Norman tops the list while the other recruits who have been signed on Stuart's watch include South Sydney pair Nathan Peats and Justin Hunt and English prop Lee Mossop.

"I think it's a modern-day contract that everybody seems to put stuff like that in there these days," Sharp said. "I think most of those players are coming to the club because they're looking for an opportunity to improve themselves and play regular first grade in the positions they want to play in. We'll give them that opportunity. I'm sure Ricky has had an influence on players coming here because he does the negotiations, but I'm confident all those players will still come irrespective of who the coach is."

Everyone can improve, how does Ricky know if his structure is the best, maybe the roosters are doing something that gets there juniors ready for the nrl better then we do , maybe the sharks use a better coaching structures for their defence etc etc etc - we can try and incorporate these structures. this is why a review does more good them harm. It is all about inproving and taking on best practices unless your ego can't handle it

The board should just let Sticky get on with the job. I wouldn't blame him if he walked due to too much interference. I'm sure this would have been one of the things agreed on when he took the role.

I think the chairman makes a good point about these modern contract that people put things in.

It's not like the club has any control over that.

Wow.

f**k. Me. Dead.

So our solution to the coaching crisis is to beg him to stay and give him whatever he wants?

I guess his performance warrants that.

If the reserve graders peats and norman and blokes who have never played like mossop want to join Stewart's other signings like papalli folau and hock and piss off then Stewart will have had the perfect season.

Are two clubs really fighting over this merkin?

Is our club really that much of a circus?

How do you blokes think that a review of coaching structures (by former coaches) is going to play out? One possibility is that they say everything is fine. Another is that they recommend changes to the coaching structure. The current coach is obviously happy with the coaching structure that he has introduced (otherwise he'd change it himself). So two former coaches write a report saying 'change this stuff'. Then what happens? The current coach either refuses and all hell breaks loose, or the current coach accepts the accepts the changes (but isn't too happy about it). We have a crap season 2014.....and people blame the coach....and the coach says.....'well, you wouldn't let me continue with the system I proposed when I was hired'.......and so forever.
This is not the same a regular performance review. If someone came to me and said, 'We're going to get 2 of the blokes who used to do your job, and whom we sacked, to have a look at the way you do stuff, and ask them to tell us how it could be done'....I'd say 'See ya.

Agreed. One way or the other, I think the review will end in tears.
