Stuart ( who has game plans)was always going to be a better option then bellamy

The problem was whether he would have the players to execute his game plans

I was one of his detractors, so am pleased to say I was wrong.

All the players Stuart brought in went very well. Gallen at prop, well, what can you say. One of the greatest ever performances at SOO level.

Stuart has instilled some heart into this side so all congrats to him.

I was critical of Ricky (not on these forums) because he was being hypocritical with his positional selections by saying they had to be specialists then not sticking with it, which just frustrates fans and players trying to get into the team i assume. also disappointed when he said that one win would be enough. Happy we won but the series is only 1-1. We could have won game 1 had we made better selections, a player Ricky rates highly in Snowden was missing yesterday, and imo he has been overrated by Stuart. One player who was sensational yesterday was Luke Lewis, who I thought should have been in Game 1, especially having carved up the Broncos the week prior. If we win the series, then I will happily applaud Stuart on a job well done but if we don't, its just another series gone.

Dear Ricky,

I sincerely apologise for ever criticising any selections that you have made for the 2011 NSW Origin team.

Kind regards,

This Year?

positives:

* Good at creating "origin culture"
* is suited to getting the best out of tough, no-nonsense underdogs, which suits NSW down to the ground at the moment

negatives:
* Terrible 1st Origin team selection
* Origin 2 - tried to engage bloody Luke Bailey for crying out loud and therefore got lucky with injuries
* Doesn't really know how to use class players properly unless they can run the entire game for him a-la Fittler or Johns
* Stupid decision to make a replacement while the team is in the middle of defending their line for three sets of six in a row. I am definitely not saying the try was Gidley's fault, but if you take off a central defender in that situation it is sure to interrupt the good defensive communication and structure. Idiot.

You can't make an interchange while your side is defending mate

I didn't say he did it during a set of six, I said he dud during a period when we were defending our line. It was dumb.

I forgot to add:
Positives: listen to Gus Gould and pick mobile forwards. Well done Rick, still living off Gus' ideas.

First of all a well watered pot plant could do better than Bellamy.

Secondly Stuart has an abysmal first few weeks.

Thirdly, injury forced him to improve the side. Morris and Dugan would have been there last night if fit.

That is the background. Neither Gus, Tommy, Junior or Muzza would have started so poorly. The sole reason we are 1 game away from 6 straight losses is Craig Bellamy. That said, Stuart has been an improvement.

As good as last night was, there will be no excuses for another QLD win, and unless the Blues win the botched lead up to Game 1 will have been a huge factor that could have been changed for the better.

I'll reserve my judgment for Game 3. Although Ricky said he'd be happy with one win, it takes more than one game to win a series.

I'm pretty sure that was just a cover, he is far too competitive to only want to win one game.

Game 3 is a big test for the players and Ricky, however Ricky can only do so much... If they are passionate and show decent game plans but lose, its obviously the players then. Although I'm sure Ricky will still cop it, his fault or not.

Listen to Gus eh? Last time I checked Tim Sheens has been using a small mobile forward pack in the NRL for the last eight years.

Gus Gould: still passing off other people's ideas as his own.

How many finals series has Sheens made in the last 15 years adopting that strategy? No question that he's been doing it, but it certainly hasn't been very successful in the way he's implemented it over the course of a season.

Only one of 2 teams not to finish in the bottom 4 in that period - Wests. Ricky has to own the blame if we dont win the series.
