Friend of mine at work is on the committee for a local Rugby Union club over here in Perth and apparently Bankwest also classifies Rugby Union as a "dangerous sport" as his club got knocked back for a the same grant.

And yet they are happy to throw money at Jnr Rugby Union? They are a big funder of Union programs.

Turns out this isn't the first act of discrimination by this bank! Another Jnr club had previously received this knock back! Could they be any more obvious that they have a thing against RL??

That's disgraceful. I suggest the Rugby league take some appropriate action of publicizing and openly criticizing this example of biggotry against a sport! It's pathetic!

BannkWest have jumped on board as a sponsor of Junior Rugby Union here in Perth.

If I were that Rugby League club I'd be reapplying for the grant. They can't rule out sponsoring one code of Rugby because "it's a dangerous sport" and suddenly back flip and sponsor Rugby Union.

Doesn't address the biased behaviour though does it? As a Bankwest customer I've let them know I'll be moving banks unless they address it.

My daughters both have accounts with Bank West
I will be closing them down forthwith and going elsewhere
