so that's what the Mayans were on about

So can stop preparing for the end of the world. Those Mayans new what was good for League before it was even invented.

Pity the dip sh#ts that have been in charge for the past decade don't have the same vision.

lol stop sooking...weren't due to do the TV deal until this year anyway. It's still the start of an exciting new era for the code. The real excitement comes when expansion gets on the agenda anyway

I'm not sure if he was expecting wet-your-pants excitement at the announcement of an administration change...I have a feeling that some people are going to be super disappointed when it turns out that despite the independent commission, there's still only one Paul Gallen, Darren Lockyer is still retired, refs are still woeful, and souffs are still shit.

The amount of times i've seen people say
"this is bullshit can't wait for the IC" about entirely irrelevant issues is mind boggling.

For sure. This commission has been lumped with so many expectations - they are supposed to fix everything from juniors to bush footy to TV rights and boost the international game. Club owners will get more cash, as will players. The referees will be consistent, the media will be fairer and any club volunteer will be shunted off with taunts of "blazer wearer" never to be seen again.

The list of expectations (just go through threads here for examples) guarantees some disappointment due only to unrealistic expectations.

Some new letterhead, business cards and faces to blame are all that can change in the near future.

A good TV deal, with the money fairly distributed.

A plan on expansion - and not just the next round.

An increased focus on international rugby league.

Give me these three things and I'll be happy with the IC.

*applauds*

Point 1 should secure the future of current NRL teams.

Point 2 should give us a roadmap of where the NRL is going for the next 10 years at least.

Point 3 should untap the latent playing resources outside of Australia that will help us grow the NRL AND competitive test match footy. (something that the AFL just can't achieve).
