RLR-Sharks set to link with Newtown

I have no issue with the idea of strong under 20's comp. I like it in fact.
However realistically not all our fringe first graders will be under 20, and only a couple will be able to play in the under 20's, I don't want them having a picnic when not in first grade, the next level down cannot be to far a drop in skill level.
Of course I am happy to have a couple of young guys in the first grade team, more over I think it essential.
I remain unsold on the feeder relationship being in our best interests. Particularly if there is a possibility of relegation. What happens if Newtown collapses? Are we obliged to bail them out? If not where do our 'spare' players play? However it may well be an economic reality and of benefit. I would seek more detail, they tell me the devil is there.

Would that mean St George would become a speed hump?

Side note.
Why do the Sharks not already have a QLD cup affillate like many other Sydney clubs?
Caloundra Sharks for the QLD cup.

Well we did, but never got anything from them since it became official. Then they were secretly dropped during Ando's reign.

I'd rather we go with a club like Newtown or Cabramatta. At least they can train and live locally. Everyone is doing the Brisbane feeder club thing. So I'd rather we looked into NZ or maybe even PNG. There's 5 million RL fanatics up there, and it we got in young and got the cream of the crop then I'm sure we could unearth one or 2 gems.

All good points. Can't see why why can't a finger in a lot of pies, affiliation wise.
What are the other Sydney clubs doing?
Will they have state league team or an affiliation? That is the question really
No club within the shire capable :( ?

Well you need a club with a Leagues club backing, and there no other Leagues clubs in the Shire. Maybe if Newtown falls through, we could get a deal with one of the Wollongong clubs. I'm sure some of them have Leagues club backing, and I'm sure some will step up if a new State League gets up and running.

Well outside of Dumas, I'm not sure of any others. I think there were a couple in the Flegg team that made the Grand Final 3 years back, Mullane's team. Maybe there's some unknowns in the lower grades from Port Mac. But I doubt that Port Mac are rich enough to go for state league entry.

I like that idea. Alfie Langer plays for us and me as a caloudra supporter say if you need him you could borrow him :D

I've often thought about how to boost the playing ranks abd utilise the great number of talented players around Sydney who never get a gig in the NRL.

Maybe a midweek comp like the old Amco cup.

Anyway, my two favourite teams, Newtown and the beloved Sharkies together. Dare I dream ?
