THE RABBITOHS certainly underperformed in 2015 but the return of favourite son Sam Burgess should change that this year.

The loss of Issac Luke will no doubt hurt the side but former Bulldogs rake Damien Cook is a very handy pick up and should edge Cameron McInnes for the No.9 jersey.

Recently re-signed duo Kirisome Auva’a and Bryson Goodwin will form a new-look centre pairing while Aaron Gray and new recruit Michael Oldfield will battle it out for the right wing spot.

RLW’s Top 17 for the South Sydney Rabbitohs:

1. Greg Inglis
2. Alex Johnston
3. Bryson Goodwin
4. Kirisome Auva’a
5. Michael Oldfield
6. Luke Keary
7. Adam Reynolds
8. George Burgess
9. Damien Cook
10. Dave Tyrell
11. Kyle Turner
12. John Sutton
13. Sam Burgess

INTERCHANGE:
14. Jason Clark
15. Cameron McInnes
16. Tom Burgess
17. Chris Grevsmuhl

Rabbitohs gains and losses for 2016:

Ins: Sam Burgess (rugby union), Michael Oldfield (Catalans Dragons), Damien Cook (Bulldogs)

Outs: Issac Luke (Warriors), Ben Lowe (retired), Glenn Stewart (Catalans Dragons), Darren Nicholls (Broncos), Setefano Taukafa (released), Sam Manuleleua (released), Daryl Millard (released), Joel Reddy (released), Dylan Walker (Sea Eagles), Chris McQueen (Titans), Tim Grant (Wests Tigers)

That is pretty close to what I would have. I know you lot are keen on blooding all your juniors but they will require time and slow exposure to first grade. With a couple injuries your depth will be tested and hopefully these promising juniors of yours can step up.

You're spot on there.

The only difference I have is Carter in for McInnes.

Out of anyone on here who has said what the team will be my team is the closest to that line up:) Well yours seems it would be close to mine too.

On standby I'd have

18. McInnes
19. Brown
20. A. Gray

21. Crichton

I think this side or something like it might be the side to start the season but I think your right Madge will slowly bring in the younger guys like he did in 2014

When injuries strike that is.

I can't see Madge really dropping any players. Maybe just 1 or 2.

I'd have the same squad as you R20. Carter just adds a bit more spark than McInnes at hooker.

Then again, he might be training at second row, so we'll have to see.

I'm thinking more likely bad form might change Madges opinion on a few players but then again a rookie could kill it in the trials and get a run..... Not a fan of a few players they named

I would make one change there--CARTER for Grevsmuhl!!

grevs will play for qld doyen. maybe not this year, but it won't be too far away. he is a good player mate. i've got a good eye for talent. he was a little inconsistent in his first year in first grade (like a lot of young players are) but he is good. no way would i leave him out of the 17. i'd actually have him starting in the 2nd row with sutto

gray's best position is centre, yet the guy who wrote the article only mentions that he has a chance of getting a wing spot. i think he has a good chance of being on of the centres if he is over his injuries..

Goodwin will be at centre.

Madge really likes Goodwin as he does the little things well and gives 100percent all the time.
