I reckon it's pretty close to 15K. Venue holds a bit over 20K, you would say that arguably a quarter is empty.

14744 to watch England play France in a rugby league game in a non rugby league state. Brilliant effort. Would have gotten less in Sydney. And England vs PNG in Melbourne next week won’t beat it either despite a champion NRL team. Well done Perth

It's a pass! Were the ticket prices reasonable? As I believe this factor has been a major issue leading to poor to only fair attendances in Australia.

PR. Suppose you wouldn't know ticket prices for that main grandstand by any chance? Just checking if the organisers have price gouged again or not?

Yes they did.$20 behind sticks $63 that main stand! Looks around 14-15k I’d say

Great atmosphere, lots of English, French and Irish here

Thanks PR. They are truelly poor administrators! These people whom have chosen to market such a game with $63 ticket prices have no feel for the code or responsibility for creating a packed house atmosphere! They have failed in the Australian locations of this world cup! And no doubt will continue to do so from what we are witnessing. Absolutely irresponsible and full of ill directed greed.

So we now have approx. 235,000 after the opening 3 rounds (I am NOT double counting double headers).

So let's say (being optimistic) we get 60,000 for the 4 Q/Fs, and full houses for the 2 semis (50,000 + 30,000) and a full house for the final (50,000), we just MAY reach 425,000 for the tournament!

But likely somewhere between 375,000 and 400,000 … which is okay-ish

Given that poor location of games and ridiculous ticket prices dominated the Australian segment of this tournament such total attendance figures are reasonable. Thankfully the tv ratings figures have surpassed all expectations which is great for rugby-league!

Very good crowd in Perth IMO. Still think we shouldn't have bothered with double headers though.

The QF's are hurt big time by the awful decision to have an Australian game in Darwin. What's capacity 6K? This game could have drawn 20K in a town like Newcastle.

Anyway hoping for:
Aus v Somoa - 6K
Tonga v Lebanon - 15K
NZ v Fiji - 20K
Eng v PNG - 10K

Aus v NZ - 40K
Eng v Tonga - 25K
Aus v Eng - 50K

That would bring us to around 400K which would be a decent result all things considered. That combined with TV ratings that have blown away expectations will make this a successful tournament. I expect the semis and GF to rate very well.

Just back from the game. Very solid crowd. I really had no idea how many would be there, anywhere between 5,000 and 20,000 I predicted lol!

Great atmosphere despite the dud games and the fans really got into it, especilly the English fans at the shed end. I was amazed by how many travelling English fans were there, couple of thousand at least id guess. They would have certainly boosted the tourism spend in Perth this week and returned some of the investment by the wa govt in bringing the games here.

Nib stadium is a great ground for rugby league and very picturesque with the sun setting behind the city skyline. We even got an electical storm to add some fireworks!

Re the pricing tbf I think they probably got it right. The ground was 75% full and I'd say most stands were around 75% suggesting that if you wanted better seats people were willing to pay but if you couldn't afford much you could still watch the game for $20. They would have made close to $1mill in tickets and merch sales for this game. Merch was being snapped up.

All in all a great night for rugby league and for the game in WA. How awsome is it to see a rugby league World Cup successfully being held in an afl city like Perth!

I would suggest that the Kiwis vs Fiji will do extremely well to get close to 15,000 and the Tonga vs Lebanon game will do well to get to 10,000.

If they reduce the prices for the Semi Final at MT Smart, then there should be no reason why they dont get 20,000 for that game.

The organisers must be stoked with the Kiwis loss, that now guarantees them to competitive Semi Finals instead of the normal 50-60 win for the Aussie (which may still happen against the Kiwis lol)

Darwin hosted a Parramatta game this year and got 9 to 10000 attending. Think you will the NZ games with significantly more numbers than your figures. (Weather permitting )
