Sele had a poor game imo, defensive issues & didn't take enough carries. He took less than lawrie but had more avg run meters/carry, which makes sense.

Imo he's still managing his calf & flanno wants him to concentrate on the defence with line speed & winning the ruck. I hope he can back up next game because we're a better side with him.

Marschke 0 mins. We should've got him involved in the game, Liddle should be playing 60ish mins imo.
You're wrong on Sele's and Lawire's average run metres. Lawrie had more carries, more PCM and more average run metres than Sele (10.3 to 9)

Lawrie made more PCM than de Bellin (33-27). He also ran for 132 RM from 13 runs to dB's 136 from 18 runs.

Yeah he goes alright in his best position - bench. JDB is twice the player Lawrie is -Lawrie makes 130 plus metres about twice a year. Sele will improve with a couple more runs and should keep the starting slot next to Frankie baby and both will keep Lawrie honest. Good to see BMM used as a prop and not 2nd row where he struggles - 20 minutes son, just run hard and give us 10 metres+ per run and hit hard, nothing fancy now.

Na, you're wrong.

Sele: 9 runs/ 85 run meters = 9.44rm/carry
Lawrie: 13 runs/ 110 run meters = 8.46rm/carry

Whats the source for your stats?

Nrl.com have JDB: 144rm & Lawrie: 144rm
Fox sports have JDB: 94rm & Lawrie: 95rm

Both sites have JDB with more PCM than Lawrie too.

You've also had the stats on Lawrie v Sele wrong in your other post...

How do they calculate the run from the kick off, if the fullback catches and passes to the prop who lets say receives the ball 5m in the in goal and then gets to the 20m line do they count that as a 25m or 20m run or don't count that run as part of the run meters?

That is where raw statistics can be very misleading. A lot depends on the position the player plays in, obviously the time spent on the field and what their specific role is. As Mark Twain is quoted as saying - " There are lies, damn lies and statistics".
Yes. the number of tackles made, for example, does not tell you if the player made good tackles or bad tackles. Making 30 poor tackles can have a very negative impact on your team.

They do have the ineffective tackle stat on the NRL site
"Ineffective tackle" just means the attacker managed to offload the ball. In fact, you can make a very good tackle and it is counted as "ineffective" just because of an offload that wasn't your fault.

There is no public NRL stat for good/bad tackles or won/lost rucks.

Not on the site I use, but anyway Sele needs to do more. And Lawrie should be playing Reggies.

Also, it doesn't tell you who's first in when making the tackle. Obviously a player will have 30 tackles for no misses if he's the 2nd or 3rd in when the tackle is basically complete (aka Cam Smith)
