Rob Dickson's son dies after car crash

THE son of former AFL player Rob Dickson has died in hospital in South Africa.
Gabriel Dickson, 8, died in the Unitas Hospital from injuries suffered in a car crash in South Africa last weekend.
Dickson, 45, and his son Byron, 5, died in the crash while his wife Dusty and 14-year-old nephew Glynne Rourke were also injured in the family holiday tragedy.
Gabriel is believed to have suffered bruising to his heart and lungs, broken ribs, punctured lungs and a burst blood vessel in his brain.
The Herald Sun reports that the family had been keeping a bedside vigil for Gabirel at the Netcare Unitas hospital in Pretoria.
The family issued a statement this morning confirming Gabriel's passing.
"The families of Robert and
Dusty Dickson regretfully and with great sadness wish to inform relatives and friends that their beautiful boy Gabriel passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on
Tuesday April 14," the statement from Dickson's brothers Don and Peter said.
