Robbie Farah 2014

I've just been reading an article online that Souths are rumoured to be making a play at Farah next next season. I swear I remember Farah saying at the end of last year he believed his future would be sorted before round 1 kick off. How confident is everyone that he will be a Tiger beyond this season ? The eels rumour seems like it has been around forever. I'd be gutted if he left as I'm sure everyone else would be. Thoughts guys ???

I'd be gutted as a Tigers fan but not do much as a Farah fan.

He is one of very few that puts in 100% week in week out and if nothing changes this year I'd almost be happy for him should he choose a team that matches his efforts.

Like you I certainly don't want him to go but in saying that I don't want anyone in the team who doesn't have their head or heart 100% where it should be.

This is the problem as to when contracts are negotiated. I know Farah is a Tiger through and through and if he is smart (and I think he is) he is simply running up his price. Farah has been the heart of the Tigers for a long time and his next contract is the one that sets him up for the future...big time.

If he goes no doubt it will be a huge hole to fill but fill it we will, teams always do...I just wish Politoni was still on the books as a back up!!!!

His brother Eddie Farah, who is South's physio is behind the push, my bet is that Robbie is looking for some good coin and would welcome many clubs putting their hat in the ring.

All sounds like shit to me. Can't see Robbie leaving, especially now that Sheens is gone

Cant see Souths affording him or wanting him. Luke and Peats are more than doing the job.

Tigers need to retain him at all costs. Sack Moltzen, Lote and Blair if need be.
I'll stop watching if he plays for another club.

I tend to agree. Not worried about the Souths rumour at all considering they already have Luke and Peats and i used to be worried about the Eels but that was when all these top level players were rumoured to be signing there too, none of which have so i think it would be a step backwards for Robbie's footy career to go to a team that looks like it is going to struggle a lot more than what we will over the next few seasons.

Given how pathetic the Eels management is (signing Sandow for $500,000/season, Josh Papalii for $1,000,000/3 seasons) and considering they're going to make a play for Folau, there is no way they'll sign Robbie. Farah is smart and he's all set for a career after league, so in my opinion, he will stay with the Tigers should you guys offer him a bit more (salary cap raise and all) so I can't see you guys having trouble retaining him.

I'd be more worried about the Dogs letting a fringe first grader go, thus freeing up funds to sign him...

I say 2013 will be his last year with the Tigers, I have no inside info or anything but what I have seen of Farah in recent months gives me the feeling that he wants a change and has probably already penned in a deal.I still say Parra, Ricky and Haynes being the attraction.

Could be way off the money but it's my gut feeling

I dunno, if he's after cash, he stands in line to earn more at the Tigers anyway, given the club gets a discount for him being loyal and being a marquee player, we can afford to throw shedloads more at him.

I dare say we'll drop Utai and Tuqiri at season end and use that cash to top up Robbie's contract.

He's vital because our only genuinely decent option aside from Robbie was let go to Cronulla last season in Politoni, so he's now a vital and priority signing, more than anyone else in this clubs history

MU, I don't think this contract is all about money,I think it's about change and life after football. Sure money will come into it,but I think he can command such big dollars, that most clubs will be around the same mark.

Anyway time will tell, let's hope it is sorted out soon and if he decides to leave let's hope the club don't have a sulk and drop him

I can't see the club letting him go easy, purely because there will be no one available of his calibre for us to sign to replace him.

If it is life after football then staying a Tiger for life will bring plenty of opportunities after his career is over i think . Management , coaching , etc . I think if you leave a club even after so long you do shut the door on a lot of those opportunities because of that lost loyalty . He is a massive part of the club on and off the field and worth every cent spent on him .

I agree. Think Tim Brasher.

Benny Elias was his idol. Benny was a one club man.
I'm sure that he wants to be one as well.
I thought Terry Lamb was his idol. Didn't Robbie used to be a Doggies supporter. Either way i think you're right in saying Farah would like to be a one club man. Would be awesome if something in that regard got announced over the weekend before their game Monday night.
