Everyone needs to know more about this man.

People concluded that he was just so talented, that HE MUST BE A DEVIL WORSHIPPER !!

A fascinating but short life that ended at age 27. Find out more about the man, it'll do you some good ... maybe :)

"Eleven 78 rpm records were issued during Johnson's lifetime and one posthumously. They were just "race" records then--another casual attempt at trying to capitalize on the blues. Needless to say, they were enough to establish his identity wherever he went and afford him a degree of fame and fortune for the short time he lived after their release"

He did sell his soul to the devil at the crossroads, and in return the devil tuned his guitar so he coud play anything he wanted!
or something like that

In O Brother Where Art Thou? it was Tommy Johnson who sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads. And it seems the Coens got it right.

"To enhance his fame, Johnson cultivated a sinister persona. According to his brother LeDell, he claimed to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his mastery of the guitar. This story was later also, and probably erroneously, associated with Robert Johnson, to whom he was unrelated."

No, not in O Brother Where Art Though.,

And whether it was Robert or Tommy is all pure speculation.

No-one actually knows at all and the life of Robert is yet to be properly pieced together. In that sense he is a bit of an enigma - his legend is largely born out of how little we know about him.

Fantastic guitarist.

Probably the most influential guitarist of the past hundred years. Despite the recordings being seventy odd years old, they often get a flogging on my Pod.

Damn near impossible to emulate unless you have size 16 hands. The man could simultaneously play bass, doing little 3 note walks, then rhythm on the middle strings and lead on the tops. I think I read once that he had a fingerspan of about 11 frets. That's incredible.
