Rockingham to Honour their best

Off the Rockingham Web site (thought it was worth mentioning)



The Rockingham club tonight will honour tonight the sixty or so players who have progressed thru to senior football for the club since 1988 by naming a 20 person squad to be enshired on a framed jumper.

The jumper has been donated by Laurie Fielding who has been a longtime sponsor and contributor to the Rockingham club since moving to WA from NZ in the 1980's. Each year since the club has started Laurie and Ngaire (now deceased) donates a trophy to the under 18's.

Tonight also a number of players will be inducted in the Rockingham Rugby Leagues Hall of Fame,

Tonights guests include four former Presidents with Mr Gary Brazier travelling from Qld for the event,three previous premiership coaches, and a number of the 1989 and 1993 premiership sides.

The event kicks off at 7.00pm with a buffet meal with the presentations commencing at 7.45pm with a 20 minute presentation of the history of Rugby League in the Peel region.

The best of local product team will be announce shortly after with the new Hall of Fame members inducted around 8.30pm.

Rundown of events

Commences 6.30-7.00pm

7.15pm Buffet Meal

7.45pm The History of Rugby League in the Peel/ Rockingham Region. Big Screen Picture Presentation.(20 minutes)

Includes actions shots of all premiership games, team shots of finalists and Grand finalists, Social events, State teams and players and general memories of past times.

8.15pm Presentation of Hall of Fame Medals 2002 recipents.

8.30pm Announcement of "Across Three Decades Local Product Team" Big Screen Picture Presentation 15 minutes.

8.45pm Unveiling of Commendative Framed Jumper

9.00pm Announcement of 2006 Hall of Fame and Presentation of Medals

9.10pm Picture presentation of Hall of Fame members from young to old.

Shannon Brankstone

Commenced playing for this club in 1988.State Junior Rep including position of State Captain in 1993, Junior Premiership Player, Selected for Junior Reds also WA Senior Squad, youngest local junior to play senior grades for our club 15 years old in lower grades and made first grade debut in 1993 16 years of age, 200 games plus for the club 15 Year Anniversary Team Member.

Thomas Larsen

Commenced playing for this club in 1988. Reliable hard working forward in both attack and defense willing to take the defensive line on and hard to stop. State junior rep. Member of 1993 senior squad. Manager of the first Sharks Third grade side. 150 games plus First Grade

Scott Brown

Commenced playing for this club in 1988. Solid honest player, good defensive, ball distribution and support Play skills, played seniors for Rockingham, Canning, Fremantle and Sharks 1993 sevens tournament GF winner. 1993 Raiders senior player. 150 games plus for club

Conrad Evans

Commenced playing for this club in 1988. 200 points in 1 season, State and AIS U19 Rep has represented the Rockingham, Mosman Cottesloe, WA and North Queensland Stingers at senior level 1991 WARL Reserve Grade Player of The Year. 1993 First Grade Premiership Player 100 Games plus for club Perth Pumas U21 Rep 15 Year Anniversary Team

Stephen Fielding

Commenced playing for this club in 1992 after a long and distinguished career with Mosman Cottesloe Tigers, and Belmont Steelers. Represented the state in over 20 games and captained the state in games against Qld country, NSW metro, and clubs such as Balmain, Port Moresby, and BARL. Selected in the WARL 50th Anniversary team. Captain/ coached the Rockingham Rugby league club to its first A grade premiership in 1993. Played a first grade game for the Rockingham Raiders in 2003 at 44 years of age. Member of the 15-Year Anniversary Team

Bryon Tuckey

Commenced playing for this club in 1992. Belmont Steelers player. -1990-1991.Canning 1992. Played Union for North Auckland and moved to WA in 1986. Represented the state union side from 1986-1990. 1993 Raiders Premiership player. Three times third grade premiership player for the Coastal Cowboys and captain of their first premiership. Played first grade for Fremantle at around 40 years of age.

Jeremy Russell

Commenced playing for this club in 1993. Very under rated player who gives nothing but 100%. Has played 150 plus games for the club. A Grand finalist in 1998 in reserve grade and 2003 in third grade. Has assisted with coaching, water running and other duties around the club. Current assistant coach of our under 18's.

Amanda Williams

Commenced playing for this club in 1995. This person was an amazing tackler who never missed. Gained representative honours for South of the River in 2000. The player is a current age group West Australia Women's Cricket player. First female player to play 100 games for the club which considering she had to wait for leaguetag to be introduced in 2002 is a fine achievement.

Stephen Quinlan

Former Mandurah junior who commenced playing for this club in 1997. Very skillful and versatile player has represented WA in both seniors and juniors. Twice Australian Affiliated States senior Rep Current first grade player 100 games for Sharks. A junior product who has represented from Rockingham in State and Australian sides.

Heather Christy

Commenced playing for this club in 2002. A dynamic player who can score tries from all areas of the field and is equal to any player in defence. This player has always encouraged other people to be a part of this club. This player did a lot to fly the Rockingham Rugby leagues flag when our senior teams were rebuilding in the early 2000-2003 era. She created a first for this club in becoming a Dual winner of the WARL player of the year for the WA women's Leaguetag. She is a current state player.
