After last nights debacle I was looking for some hope.
We were beaten by a much better side on the night, the ref had a good game and even Andy Raymond's commentary was excellent.
I had written the year off but realised we are only 2 points out of the 8.
Gee we are only 4 points off the competition lead. South are one of the leading sides.
I still couldnt come to terms with why we would rather give stupid penalties away than to play footy.
Anyway then came the hope.
In one of the papers today it was reported Matt Rogers may of played his last game of union and could return to League.
Its too late for this year but this was the small bit of hope I was looking for.
Surely if he returns to League he will come back to us.
God knows we need him and a few more.

He went to the sharks home game rather then go with his team mates to watch a game in NZ.

I'd love to see him back but I doubt he will be.

the phrase would read:
One great step for Cronulla
One great step Backwards for Matt Rogers...
why would he when is at the top of his game now??????
Wallabie upfront starter,NSW rep and all round Great Union Player!
It'd be like standing down from Prime Minister to be a street sweeper!

Sounded like contract negotiations to me. If it had've been in one paper, maybe I'd believe it more, but being in both seems suspicious.

let me ask this, and jimbo and SS need not answer this ! :-

if you as shark fans wanted rogers back, knowing he is on a good wicket at the ARU, how much would you accept our club paying him to come back and play 5/8 ?

That has no logic, whatsoever. Nobody knows about Rogers now that he's in union - on the other hand, his publicity would skyrocket once again if he came back to League.

I'd play him at fullback following Peach's retirement at the end of the year, but if it meant we could have a player and goal kicker of his calibre in the side, then yeah, let him play 5/8.

What ever Tam,I do hope you are enjoying your own little world.
Just what don't you understand about my post mate???
Matt is the best at what he does at the moment with the right team around him and giving the oppertunities he deserves.
Don't get me wrong,I'd like to see him converting tries for Cronulls, but those Tries must first be scored and then those points must then be defended(see what I'm getting at here Buddy?)
So Giving up a top slot in Union to take up a job in the current 2nd last place team on the ladder in 2004 for 2005,well call me whacky or cooky, but that sounds kinda stupid Huh?

I would be happy for them to pay him whatever it took to get him back. I get the feeling money is one of the big factors keeping him at union.

Not only is he a world class player, a quality goal kicker and an absolute pleasure to watch play footy, but he also also a Shark through and through. I always assumed he would fill the void that ET's retirement left, but then he went to union.

If he is considering coming back to League (which I'm not convinced of) then the club should do whatever it takes to get him back.

It would be one thing to have him back at the club, but another thing to have him injury free and actually playing.
