Blast from the past, Hills have named Jason Wehbe at halfback in RMC. This young bloke had a few raps on him 5 or 6 years ago before disappearing.

There is now only one player from last years GF in the starting 13 (Mick H) and 2 on the bench, Hills got it so wrong this year.

Anyway, go the real magpies this season.;-)

In 2011 when Kingsgrove sought entry, the RMC was down to 7 teams so regardless of the standard, an 8th team avoided a bye. At that stage there was no Sydney Shield. As additional teams entered RMC and the SS started, there was no longer any justification for automatic entry and it was obvious that Kingsgrove were in the wrong grade.

However, rather than proper grading assessments occurring, Kingsgrove were allowed to enter a 2nd team in the SS so there were now 2 slaughters at the one ground each week. This situation lasted for about half a season until Kingsgrove SS turned up with 11 players and wanted to forfeit. The opposition, Belrose didn't want a 0-0 win since everyone else had played Kingsgrove so they demanded a game where both teams 11players. It was 64-0 at half time and Belrose declared their innings closed.

After an hour break, The Entrance ran up 80 in RMC - so a total of 144 points in 120 minutes for the day. Kingsgrove SS forfeited for the next few weeks and then were removed from the comp.

Truth stranger than fiction.

Wehbe played some NSW Cup for Wenty about 3 years ago but Boustani lasted less than one game before going down with his chronic groin problem again so the needed to find another half.

The Western Suburbs Magpies again established themselves as Ron Massey Cup challengers with a commanding 56-16 thrashing of the Cabramatta Two Blues at Campbelltown Stadium last Saturday.
The Magpies won the match with an explosive first half which saw Nathan Waters’ men score five tries to lead 28-6 at the break – moving Wests to third spot on the Ron Massey Cup ladder.
Inno Inosesio made the most of an early Two Blues turnover to open the scoring, before five-eighth Blake Cavallaro extended the lead to 10-nil after just 10 minutes.
Tom Morrison marked his first game of the season for the Magpies with Wests’ third try from a grubber kick in behind a nonplussed defence, before David Harris strolled through token Cabramatta resistance to make it 22-nil after 22 minutes.
Daniel Abou-Sleiman got Cabramatta’s first try after good interchange play with Daniel Haraki to get the visitors on the board, before Wests hooker Dayne Craig got his first try from dummy-half to give the Magpies their match-winning lead at the interval.
The Magpies then went on with the job with five more tries in the second half. Craig completed a hat-trick midway through the second half in his best game for the season so far. Harris added a second try, with Tala Mapesone and Matt Eisenhuth getting late tries to put the icing on the Magpies’ cake.
Ken Niko, from a quick penalty tap, and Tarek El Masri, from a short restart, got consolation tries for the Two Blues in the last 20 minutes.
Defending Premiers Mounties stayed in second place on the Massey Cup table with a convincing 38-16 win over Windsor Wolves at Windsor Sports Complex last Saturday Night.
The Mulga started well and established a match-winning 24-4 half-time lead on the back of strong games from fullback John Kennedy, halves Maurice Kennedy and Chad Porter, as well as former North Sydney Bear Steve Tavita up front.
Windsor five-eighth Aaron f**kas got an early second-half try to raise hopes of a comeback, before Mounties extended the lead to 38-10 inside the final 15 minutes with three more majors to put the result beyond doubt.
Concord-Burwood Wolves returned to their spiritual Goddard Park home with a thrilling 34-30 win over the luckless Blacktown Workers in the first of Sunday’s games.
Both big forward packs worked hard in the warm conditions which led to an 11-try thriller.
Giant Wolves second rower Kem Seru crashed over to give the Wolves the lead late in the second half, before the Wolves hung on in the face of desperate Workers attack in the closing stages for their second win of the season.
Centre Maliko Filino got two tries for the Workers – who have now lost their last three starts in Massey Cup by four points or less.
The power of Fijian flyer Luke Nadurutalo’s hat-trick of tries was enough to see St Marys pip 2015 Grand Finalists Asquith Magpies 36-28 at St Marys Leagues Stadium in last Sunday’s other game.
The Saints won the game in a burst of tries in the first 20 minutes of the second stanza - when Nadurutalo completed his hat-trick – after a relatively tight first half.
Two tries to fullback Alex O’Neil raised the hopes of a late Asquith comeback before time ran out on the Magpies.
Wentworthville head up the Massey Cup table with five wins from five starts. Mounties, Wests and the Auburn Warriors lead the chasing pack, just two points behind. The Hills District Bulls, Blacktown Workers and Kingsgrove Colts sit jointly at the bottom of the ladder on two points each.
This weekend sees a return to a full round of action, with five matches on Saturday – headlined by Mounties taking on Auburn at Aubrey Keech Reserve. Guildford and Concord-Burwood complete the round at McCredie Park on Sunday.

Wests looked incredible belting Cabra on Saturday and this week they have the opposed training session out at Hurstville. They 'should' put a good 50-60 points on them if they want to. Might even go in and witness the carnage in the flesh

SS Wrap

A third try to winger Thomas Capper with two minutes remaining saw the Western Suburbs Magpies get out of jail with a miracle 42-40 Sydney Shield win over Cabramatta Two Blues at Campbelltown Stadium last Saturday.
In a match that saw defence go out the window with 16 tries scored, Wests remarkably came back from being down 34-10 at half-time to score their third win of the season.
The Two Blues started the match on fire; Brett Castles opened the scoring in the fifth minute, before George Vujanovic and Jake Webb scored tries from kicks to give Cabramatta an early 16-nil lead.
Capper scored his first try from a questionable pass to bring the Magpies deficit back to 12 points, before Jarrod Robson and Solimona’s second try gave Cabramatta what appeared to be a match winning 34-10 half-time lead.
Then came the Magpies’ resurrection in the second half. When George Nasiali scored for the Magpies from a Pio Sofa cross kick, it was game on at 34-24 with 20 minutes left.
Cabramatta half Michael Dent scored a brilliant solo try to give the Two Blues some more breathing space at 40-24, before the Magpies’ final grandstand finish.
Capper got his second try from an Ioelu cut out pass, before Miseli Vaikelli scored against the wobbly Two Blues defence to reduce the deficit to just six points at 40-34.
When Doolan got his double to take his season tally to 11 tries, the Magpies incredibly had the momentum – despite Ioelu missing the conversion to level the scores.
With two minutes left on the clock, another long cut out pass from Doolan sent Capper over in the corner to complete his hat-trick and give Wests the lead for the first time.
The Magpies then hung on in the closing stages to complete their miracle win and stun Cabramatta.
The Two Blues have now lost their last two Sydney Shield games in the last three minutes – by one and two points respectively – and have lost three games this year by six points or less.
The weekend’s other games were far more clear cut.
Mounties moved to second spot on the Sydney Shield ladder with a 64-6 thrashing of the Windsor Wolves at Windsor last Saturday.
After leading only 24-6 at half-time against a grimly determined Wolves defence, the floodgates opened in the second half. The Mulga scored 40 unanswered points and seven unanswered tries to put Windsor to the sword. Maika Sivo and Sisa Balekoli both bagged hat-tricks, while Rusty Bristow got a double for Mounties.
St Marys were just as ruthless as they continued Asquith’s early season misery with a 66-nil rout of the Magpies at St Marys Stadium last Sunday.
Luke Swain’s Saints outfit posted 13 tries in the romp – Alan Eisenhuth and John Tuliatu helped themselves to hat-tricks, with hooker Ben Bragg joining in the act with two tries.
Asquith have now not scored a point in their last three Sydney Shield games.
Finally, Belrose Eagles had to work hard before overcoming a willing, but error-riddled Blacktown Workers side 26-12 at Lionel Watts Reserve last Sunday.
In a scrappy match that was physically tough in the warm conditions, Belrose led 14-6 at half-time and posted a five-tries-to-two win after withstanding a second half Workers comeback that reduced the Belrose lead to 14-12 for long periods in the second stanza.
Belrose’s win sees them stay undefeated on top of the Sydney Shield table, with five wins from five starts. Mounties, East Campbelltown, Peninsula Seagulls and St Marys are all two points behind Belrose in the chasing pack.
Blacktown Workers and Asquith sit at the bottom of the table - having not yet opened their season accounts.
This weekend sees a return to a full round of action with the Peninsula Seagulls starting things off against Wests at Forestville Oval on Friday Night.
Four matches will be played on Saturday, before Guildford play Belrose at McCredie Park and East Campbelltown take on St Marys at Waminda Oval on Sunday to complete the round.

Huge win for Asquith, beating previously undefeated Wenty, without Jeco Makatoa too. That win could kick-start their season.

Kingsgrove belted yet again. The joke continues.

I was there today, asked a few questions. Apparently Easts don't want them to play Shield, rather, RMC. Shows how backwards their thinking is.

Looks like a good win by Hills, with Kingsgrove next week it should be 3 from 7. Long way to go but maybe Wehbe will add the spark they need to become competitive in this comp.

Concord Burwood conceded a 22-4 lead to Guildford but turned the game on its head by running in 7 unanswered tries in the second half to win 42-22. The injection of a number of North Sydney players in the last few games has certainly added a lot to the CBW ball running.

In the earlier game, Belrose, the last undefeated side in either competition lost 22-18 to Guildford despite having led 18-4 in the second half.

East Campbelltown has gifted 2 points to St Marys in the other game via forfeit, which presumably resulted from not having a doctor in attendance, despite 6 games being scheduled for the Eagles home ground today.

East Campbelltowns doctor was running late apparently.

St Marys waited for half an hour then called the game.

That's absolutely woeful for a semi-professional league. 6 games of footy at the ground and no doctor available? They should be fined and docked points. Seems to be a probelm with the Shield, I recall it happened last year as well.

The other sides don't require a team doctor just a qualified sports first aider.

Just saw this on the Blacktown facebook page

No wonder they are struggling. Almost two teams sitting on the sideline injured. A credit to the club only going down to Wenty and Wests by two points with the majority of their team on the sideline.

Looks like Cabras going to continue their run of mediocrity of the last 4 or 5 seasons. Woeful for a club with the backing of their leagues club to continue to be middle of the road. Had no real success since Lenny Stacker guided them to the title. Maybe they should wheel him out of the retirement village.
